Blue Jays Minor League Recap: 07/05/16

Buffalo Bisons (12-17, 6th)

Buffalo needed a strong start from their most reliable starter to snap 4-game losing streak, winning 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

 

At the Plate

Matt Dominguez hit his 3rd home run in the 3rd, a solo jack, to put the Bisons up 1-0.

Junior Lake grounded out with the bases loaded and one out, scoring Alexi Casilla for Buffalo’s 2nd run.

David Adams went 2-for-2 out of the 9th hole and Tony Sanchez hit his 3rd double to round out the Bisons hits.

 

On the Mound

Wade LeBlanc picked up his 3rd win with 7 scoreless innings. Wade struck out 6 batters with 6 ground ball outs.

Chad Jenkins allowed one unearned run in 1.2IP and Colt Hynes picked up a one out save, his first save with Buffalo.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats  (11-16, 5th)

With a 7-6 win on Saturday, the Fisher Cats have taken two in a row from the 1st place Hartford Yard Goats.

 

At the Plate

NH scored 3 runs in the 8th and one in the 9th for 4 unanswered runs to take the lead. Christian Lopes drove in the winning run with a ground out to score Matt Dean.

Roemon Fields went 4-4 and drove in 2-RBI, his first RBI’s of the season. Matt Dean, Christian Lopes, Ian Parmley, and Jorge Flores each had two hits. Jon Berti and Jorge Saez each had one hit.

Berti stole his 14th base and drove in hit 9th RBI. Dean, Lopes, Parmley, and Flores each contributed with one RBI.

 

On the Mound

John Anderson allowed 5 runs on 9 hits over 5.1IP, giving up one home runs.

Brady Dragmire gave up one run on 3 hits over 1.2IP.

Murphy Smith picked up his 3rd win with 2 scoreless innings to hold off the Yard Goats.

Dunedin Blue Jays  (13-15, 4th)

After taking the first 2 games of of this 4-games series with Daytona, Dunedin get roughed up 8-2.

At the Plate

The Blue Jays scored a run in the 5th and a run in the 6th, but couldn’t climb out of an early hole.

Jason Leblebijian and Dickie Joe Thon each hit a single a double, being the only 2 D-Jays with to have multi-hit games. Ryan McBroom went hitless with 3 strike outs, but drove in one of the Blue Jays runs.

Michael De La Cruz drove in the clubs other run.

 

On the Mound

The D-Jays gave up 2 runs in the 1st and 6 runs in the 3rd, but held Daytona at bay the rest of the way.

Ryan Borucki (1-4, 14.40ERA) took the loss, allowing 8 runs, 7 earned, over 2 innings. He allowed 3 home runs, while walking 3 and striking out 4.

Alonzo Gonzlaez (3.0IP), Chris Rowley (3.0) and Matt Dermody (1.0IP) threw 7 innings of scoreless relief. Alonzo allowed 2 of the 3 runners he inherited to score in the 3rd.

Lansing Lugnuts  (16-11, 2nd)

Lansing was unable to close out the sweep, losing 6-2 to River Bandits.

 

At the Plate

Lansing scored 2 runs on 6 hits, while committing 3 errors.

The Lugnuts struck out 14 times with everyone in the lineup collecting at least one K.

Ryan Hissey was the only Lungut to have a multiple hits with a 2-4 night. Hissey drove in one run with Aaron Attaway collecting the other RBI.

Lane Thomas, Jacob Anderson, and Austin Daivs chipped in with hits of their own.

4 of Lansings 6 hits were doubles.

 

On the Mound

Angel Perdomo had only allowed 4 runs in his first 22.2 innings to start the year. That was good for a 1.59ERA.

Saturday was a struggle for Perdomo, as he was unable to make it out the 1st inning. Angel walked 3 and allowed 4 runs (2 earned) on one hit and only got two batters out.

Dan Lietz pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, while Starlyn Suriel allowed one run in his 3.1IP.

Dusty Isaacs also allowed a run to score, as he pitched the final 1.2 innings.

The Lugnuts pitchers issued 8 walks and struck out 3.
