Blue Jays Minor League Recap: 11/05/16

The Toronto Blue Jays Minor League system went 1-3 on games played on May 11th, 2016. Join us in recapping the wins and losses.

 

 

Buffalo Bisons (15-18, 6th)

The Herd fall 2-3 to the Durham Bulls.

 

At the Plate

Buffalo tied the game up at 2-2 in the top of the 8th, before losing it in the bottom half of the inning.

Dalton Pompey collected 2 hits, while getting RBI’s from Jesus Montero and Casey Kotchman.

Pompey (3), Montero (8), and Alexi Casilla (2) each hit doubles in the loss.

 

On the Mound

Scott Diamond allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings before giving way to eventual loser Chad Jenkins.

Chadwick struck out 2 and allowed 2 hits. It was Nick Franklin’s double that scored Richie Shaffer from first that ended the game.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats  (14-17, 5th)

The Fisher Cats swept Portland with a 2-1 win. New Hampshire held the Sea Dogs to 3 runs over the 3 games, scoring 12 runs.

 

At the Plate

New Hampshire scored 2 runs in the 7th, while down 0-1. Newly promoted Derrick Loveless hit his first Double-A home run, a 2-run shot.

Jon Berti and Dwight Smith Jr. collected 2 hits a piece, while Roemon Fields, and Wilkin Castillo chipped in with singles.

 

On the Mound

Shane Dawson had a good start, allowing one run over 5 innings. Shane allowed 7 hits, issued 3 walks and struck out 3.

Brady Dragmire (2IP), Murphy Smith (1IP) and Wil Browing (1IP) combined to shutout Portland over 4 innings. Browning converted his 5th save.

Dunedin Blue Jays  (14-18, 4th)

With Wednesday’s 7-9 loss to Clearwater the Blue Jays have lost 4 of their past 5 games.

 

At the Plate

The D-Jays scored 7 runs on 10 hits, getting home runs from David Harris (solo HR), and Emilio Guerrero (2-run HR).

Harris, Guerrero and Anthony Alford each drove in 2-runs each, while Richard Urena drove in one run.

Urena, Dickie Joe Thon, and Harris each had 2-hits, with Urena hitting a triple, Harris hitting a double and Thon swiping a base.

 

On the Mound

Brad Allen took his first loss of the season, allowing 9 runs on 9 hits over 4.2IP. Allen gave up a HR, walked 4 and struck out 5.

Mate Abel made 2016 debut throwing 2.1 shutout innings, striking out 4 and allowing one hit.

Adonys Cardona struck out 2 and ran his scoreless streak to 12 innings.

Alonzo Gonzalez chipped in with a no-hit inning of his own to closeout the game and lowered his ERA to 1.99 in the loss.

Lansing Lugnuts  (16-14, 5th)

The Lugnuts dropped their 4th game and were swept in the process. Bowling Green topped Lansing 6-1 in the rubber match.

 

At the Plate

It took Lansing 9 innings to break the shutout with Ryan Hissey driving in Andrew Guillotte with a sac fly.

Guillotte, Gunnar Heidt, Connor Pannas, and Justin Atkinson collected hits for the Lugnuts.

 

On the Mound

Former 21st rounder Taylor Saucedo took his 4th loss, allowing 5 runs and lasting just 2.2IP.

Starlyn Suriel allowed one run in 3.1 innings of relief.

Dan Lietz finished off the game with two no-hit innings.
