Blue Jays Minor League Recap: 27/05/16

The Toronto Blue Jays Minor League system went 1-3 on games played on May 27th, 2016. Join us in recapping the wins and losses

 

Buffalo Bisons (25-23, 5th)

After winning 4 games in a row, sweeping Columbus, the Bisons dropped the opener, 0-8, to Toledo. Daniel Norris struck out 8 and held the Herd to 4 hits over 6 innings.

At the Plate

Buffalo was held off the board, as they went 0-for-4 with RISP. Not much happened in the shutout so lets look at some hit streaks.

Dalton Pompey extended his hit streak to 4-games with a 1-for-4 day. He’s hitting .289 over his past 10 games.

Andy Burns went 1-for-4 and is hitting .318 in his past 10 games.

Jesus Montero just keeps hitting, going 1-for-4 to extend his hit streak to 7 games.

Darrell Ceciliani, Tony Sanchez and Jio Mier each had one hit with Mier collecting the only extra base hit for Buffalo.

 

On the Mound

Scott Diamond took his 5th loss, surrendering 5 runs on 8 hits over 5 innings.

Pat McCoy didn’t fair much better, giving up 3 runs during his one inning of relief.

Aaron Luop, Pat Venditte, and Dustin Antolin allowed just one hit and no runs over the final 2 innings.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats  (20-26, 4th)

New Hampshire lost their 5th and 7th in the past 8 with a 8-9 extra innings slugfest with Reading.

 

At the Plate

The Fisher Cats scored 8 runs on 10 hits, but finished 5-for-17 with RISP. They walked 12 times and struck out 12 times.

Roemon Fields, Ryan Lavarnway, Wilkin Castillo and Christian Lopes each has 2-hits, with Lopes hitting his first home run and driving in 4 runs.

 

On the Mound

Jeremy Gabryszwski allowed 4 runs on 7 hits over 7 innings, leaving with a 7-4 lead; unfortunately, Wil Browning allowed 3 runs in the 9th. Browning’s ERA has gone from 0.54 up to 3.06 after allowing 5 run over his last two appearances.

Danny Barnes no-hit the Fightin Phils for 2.2 innings before handing the ball to eventual loser Brady Dragmire (1-4). Dragmire surrendered 2 runs on 4 hits in 2 innings of relieve.

Dunedin Blue Jays  (22-27, 4th)

The Blue Jays crushed the Tortugas 13-1 on Friday for their 2nd consecutive win.

 

At the Plate

The D-Jays scored 5 runs in the 1st and 6th, adding one in the 7th and two in the 8th.

Ryan McBroom hit the only home run in the 13 run affair, driving in runs. Derrick Loveless drove in 3 runs, going 3-for-5, falling a home run shy of the cycle.

Jonathan Davis and Michael De La Cruz were the only 2 Dunedin batters without a hit. McBroom, Loveless, and Emilio Guerrero each had 3 hits and Richard Urena, Anthony Alford, and L.B. Dantzler had 2 hits.

 

On the Mound

Francisco Rios went the distance, allowing one run on 7 innings. Rios walked one and struck out 3.

The Lugnuts drop their 2nd game in a row with a 2-4 loss to South Bend.

Lansing scored 2 runs on 5 hits, with Ryan Hissey hitting his 2nd home run and being the only Lugnut with 2-hits. JC Cardenas drove in the clubs other run.

Tayler Saucedo went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits.

Ryan Cook took his 5th loss, giving up 2 runs over 3 innings.
