Jays Nest Podcast Ep80: Blue Jays Crankiness & More!

Jays From the Couch brings you great discussion about the Toronto Blue Jays. This week, we get cranky and talk Jose Bautista and more!

Episode 80 features some cranky discussion about still more speculation about the future of Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion with the Toronto Blue Jays. The club has also been playing some rather poor baseball lately, which leads to some frustrating lines of discussion, which we boldly traverse. We look at the current pitching depth, which looks dubious. We bring you our Stat of the Week and lots of flaming Hot Takes before taking some great reader questions.

The Jays’ Nest Podcast- Talking Toronto Blue Jays – Jays Nest #80- Blue Jays Crankiness & More!

In This Week’s Episode:

  • We react to the seemingly never ending saga of Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion speculation. The latest has the team not even considering signing them this offseason. We offer up our frustration with the conversation that will never die. It is like a hydra with many evil heads.
  • We used the recent Wade LeBlanc trade to examine the pitching depth the Blue Jays now have to deal with. It not only impacts the starting rotation, but extends into the bullpen as well.
  • Our Stat of the Week looks at Chris Colabello‘s favorite metric- BABIP. We look at how it is being used and our issues with it. We also put it into some Blue Jays context for you.
  • Our Hot Takes were smoking this week. Keegan managed to get his love for Adam Lind into the episode with a thought on how he could return to the Blue Jays. I offer my take on the recent injury to Bautista.
  • To put a ribbon on Episode 80, we take some great reader questions about R.A. Dickey, Max Pentecost, Russell Martin and who might be this year’s Marco Estrada.
