Thanks to their rained-out game on Saturday, the Buffalo Bisons (18-15) played a double header against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Mothers’ Day Sunday, dropping the first one by a 7-2 score. Buffalo’s bats remained silent until the seventh when they scored their two runs getting RBIs from Ian Parmley and Shane Opitz who had two of the Bisons’ five hits, going 2/3.

Mat Latos tossed 4 2/3 innings, giving up all seven Lehigh Valley runs on eight hits (including two home runs) and two walks with four strikeouts. Matt Dermody finished up, throwing 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout.

The second game of the double header was a lower scoring affair but the Buffalo Bisons  (18-16) lost Game 2 as well with John Stilson allowing a run on three hits in the fifth inning to take the 1-0 loss. Luis Santos was the starter and he threw four innings of scoreless ball, giving up just two hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Murphy Smith came on for the sixth inning, walking one.

The Bisons only had four hits in the second game, getting a double from Alex Monsalve and two singles from Roemon Fields who added a stolen base.

Tim Mayza followed that with a scoreless seventh, walking one and striking out two while Chris Rowley dropped his season’s ERA to just 1.59 thanks to a perfect eighth.

Anthony Alford hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot in the third inning for the Fisher Cats. Richard Urena also showed some signs of life, going 2/5 with a double and a run while Harold Ramirez drove in two runs, going 1/4. Tim Lopes was 1/3 with a walk and a sacrifice fly.
