Triple-A Buffalo Bisons finally opened their season with a game in Pawtucket. They must’ve been so happy to finally play because they didn’t want it to end as the game needed extra innings to find a conclusion.

The system experienced a power surge with two teams score 10 plus runs while another team gave up 9 runs. As a whole, the system hit a grand total of 5 home runs.

With four games played on Monday, the Blue Jays system finished 3-for-1.

Player of the Day

POD Honourable Mention:

  • Danny Jansen was perfect, 4-for-4, coming a triple shy of the cycle. I think he got it but a baserunning mistake cost a triple, turning it into a double.
  • Jonathan Davis scored 5 runs, 2 HBP, 2-for-4 and a pair of SB
  • Bo Bichette…..see below
  • Jon Harris with 5 strong one run innings
  • Ryan Noda went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and SB
  • Kevin Smith went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored, a HR, 2RBI, a walk, and a SB
  • Cullen Large went 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored, a double, a HR, 2 RBI
  • Donnie Sellers struck out 12 over 5 scoreless innings.

Monday, April 9th’s POD has to go to the young man who drove in 6 runs and was a perfect 3-for-3. The one, the only, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Vladdy entered the game batting a mere .200 with a HR and 2 RBI.

That changed in a hurry.

Jonathan Davis kicked things off with a single and a stolen base in the first. After Bichette moved Davis to 3rd with a single, Vladdy sent a sac fly to left, scoring Davis and putting the Fisher Cats up 1 to 0.

Vladdy stepped to the plate in the 3rd with Davis and Bichette on base again and again cashed Davis in with a sac, this time to short.

A single in the 5th with Davis at 3rd, Vladdy came through with a run-scoring single to LF.

With a three RBI already under his belt, Vladdy hit his 2nd long fly over the center field wall, a solo shot to make it 4 RBI.

After another Davis single, and a Bichette walk, Guerrero hit day off with a two-run double to left field, capping his day with 6 RBI.

Bo and Vlad Show

Bo Bichette

The Fisher Cats shortstop went 3-for-5 with 3 runs scored, a double, and a walk.

Bichette is batting .391 with a .918 OPS. Bo has scored 5 runs, a pair of doubles/RBI/BB while stealing 3 bases and striking out 4 times.

Vladimir Guerrero

See POD. Vladdy raised his batting average .133 with today’s strong performance.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr is batting .333 with a .867 OPS. Vladdy has 6R, 6H, a pair of doubles, a pair of HR, 8RBI, 3 BB, and K.
