The Blue Jays system finished with three wins and two defeats, along with 2 shutouts.

Buffalo (2-1)

 

This game resembled an offensive seesaw with both teams scoring runs in the 3rd and 4th innings before the Bisons offense erupted for 8 runs in the 6th to put the game out of reach for Pawtucket.

 

Bisons win 14 to 8.

 

The herd got home runs off the bats of Dwight Smith Jr. (grand slam), Jason Leblebijian (2-run), Teoscar Hernandez (2-run), and new Bison Darnell Sweeny (solo). Every Bison batter collected a hit expect Rowdy Tellez.

 

Starter- Deck McGuire 5.0IP, 5H, 6R, 3BB, 4K on 83 pitches

 

Win- McGuire (1-0, 10.80 ERA)

 

Thursday, April 12th starting pitcher- Sam Gaviglio (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (6-1)

 

The Fisher Cats take the series with the Trenton Thunder with 4 to 0 win on the back of a dominating start from Jordan Romano.

 

New Hampshire got RBI from VLadimir Guerrero Jr., Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and Harold Ramirez. The bullpen did their job with 2 innings of relief, allowing just on hit and a walk.

 

Starter- Jordan Romano 7.0IP, 3H, 7K on 86 pitches

 

W- Romano  (1-0, 1.50 ERA)

Dunedin Blue Jays (4-2)

 

The D-Jays played two on Wednesday with T.J. Zeuch pitching in game one (L, 2 to 1) and Tayler Saucedo taking the mound for game two (W, 2 to 0).

 

Game 1

 

The D-Jays and Palm Beach Cardinals traded runs in the 3rd but then former Blue Jays farmhand J.B. Woodman with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 7th to score Stefan Trosclair from 2nd.

 

Anthony Alford made his 2018 debut on rehab, going 1-for-2 with an RBI and a strikeout.

 

Starter- T.J. Zeuch 6.2IP, 5H, 2R, 4K on 82 pitches

 

L-Zeuch (1-1, 4.26 ERA)

 

Game 2

The D-Jays bounced back in game 2 to avoid the doubleheader sweep. Dunedin scored a run in the 5th and a run in the 7th on 8 hits. Joshua Palacios, Nash Knight, and Alberto Mineo each had a pair of hits.

Lansing Lugnuts (4-3)

 

The Lugnuts outhit the Fort Wayne TinCaps 11 to 6 but fall 9 to 4. The TinCaps scored 8 runs in the 8th off reliever Dany Jimenez to put the game out of reach.

 

Starter- Yennsy Diaz 6.0IP, H, R, 4BB, 4K, and an HRA on 95 pitches

POD Honourable Mention:

 

  • Buffalo’s Dwight Smith Jr. has two HR in three games. He launched a grand slam in Wednesday’s game and added an RBI. He finished 2-for-6 with a run, a HR, and 5 RBI.
  • Dunedin’s Zeuch allowed 2 runs while striking out 4 over 6.2IP in a losing effort
  • Dunedin’s Palacios is off to a hot starter. He went 2-for-4 with one of two RBI in the game and is hitting .440 with a .963 OPS while driving in 4 RBI.
  • Lansing’s Samad Taylor hit his first Lansing HR and triple, going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and obviously an RBI.

 

Tuesday, April 10th’s POD goes to Markham’s Jordan Romano for his 7 shutout innings.

 

In his last start, Romano pitched 5 innings, allowed 3 ER with a walk and 6 strikeouts. With 13 strikeouts, Romano owns a 9.75 K/9 while holding opponents to a .163 batting average.

 

A flyball pitcher, the 24-yr-old collected 6 outs via the air and 4 outs from the groundball.

 

Romano had a 1-2-3 in the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 6th innings. He allowed a single base runner in the 2nd (single, Ben Ruta), the 5th (single, Ben Ruta), and the 7th (leadoff double, Trey Amburgey). He ended his out with a groundball off the bat of Ben Ruta, fitting.

 

Jordan Romano’s next start will come next Tuesday at home against Tim Tebow‘s Binghamton Rumble.

Bo and Vlad Show

 

Bo Bichette

 

Bichette was playing 2nd and went 1-for-5 with a pair strikeouts. His single came in his final at-bat to lead off the 9th inning. Bichette left 3 runners on base during the game. He was also caught stealing for the first time this year.

 

Bichette is batting .364 with a .824 OPS and is still searching for his 1st Double-A HR.

 

Vladimir Guerrero

 

Vladdy drove in another RBI and went 2-for-5 with a double.

 

Vladimir Guerrero Jr is batting .321 with a 1.061 OPS. With a double and an RBI in the game, Vladimir Guerrero has 4 doubles and 9 RBI in 7 games.
