Lansing Lugnuts (4-3)

Trailing 3-2 heading into the 7th inning, the Lugnuts erupted for 11 runs. Lansing Zach Logue recovered from a shaky opening frame and the bullpen shut the door on the TinCaps.

Lugnuts win 13 to 4.

The Lugnuts got 2-hit games from Chavez Young, Kevin Vicuna, Christian Williams (thumb is all good), Matt Morgan (even I am surprised), and Cullen Large (what’s he doing batting 9th???).

Large and Ryan Noda each had 3 walks in the win.

Starter- Zach Logue 5.2IP, 9H, 3R, 2BB, 3K, and an HRA on 90 pitches

W- Brody Rodning (1-0, 27.00 ERA)

Friday, April 13th starting pitcher- Graham Spraker (0-0, 6.75 ERA)

Player of the Day

POD Honourable Mention:

  • Dunedin’s William Ouellette pitched 2 innings of shutout relief, allowing 2 hits and striking out 3.
  • Buffalo’s Reese McGuire and Jason Leblebijian each had a pair of hits in the losing cause. Leblebijian added a stolen base.
  • Bisons’ Luis Santos allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out 3 over 2 scoreless innings in relief.

Thursday, April 12th’s POD goes to the native of Bahamas, Chavez Young.

The 20-yr-old collected hits in all but one game since the opener, where he went 3-for-5. After striking out 3 times on Tuesday, Young sat for Wednesday’s game.

Looks like a little rest was just what the doctor ordered. Young went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, a walk, and a strikeout while scoring a run and driving in 4.

Lansing’s CF grounded out twice and struck out in his first three at-bats before hitting his third double of the year in the 7th. That double scored Matt Morgan which marked run number one of 11 scored in the 7th.

Chavez would hit a triple in his next at-bat, still in the 7th, cashing in Brock Lundquist, Matt Morgan, and Cullen Large.

Maybe not a great game but one hell of a good inning for the dynamic outfielder.
