POD Honourable Mention:

  • New Hampshire’s Zach Jackson struck out 2 in relief of Jon Harris. Jackson has yet to allow a run in 3 games (5.2IP).
  • D-Jays’ closer Jackson McClelland needed just 15 pitches to complete the 4 out save. McClelland didn’t allow any of the 4 batters he faced to reach base and collected 2 strikeouts for his 2nd save.
  • D-Jays’ starter T.J. Zuech. Looking good. A few more outings like this and he’ll be heading to NH.
  • Lansing’s Cullen Large hit his 2nd bomb of the year, going 2-for-4. He did commit an error but also added a double to his totals.
  • Lansing’s Kyle Weatherly pitched 3 shutout innings, allowed 2 hits and striking out 2.

Saturday, April 14th’s POD goes to Samad Taylor.

The 19-yr-old from Corona, CA., was playing 2nd and batting 2nd in the order. He kicked off the day with an infield single. A Kacy Clemens walk moved him over to 2nd and with Kevin Smith at the plate, Samad Tayler stole his second base on the year. Unfortunately, Smith struck out to end the threat.

In the 3rd, Taylor collected another single to the shortstop and moved to 2nd on another Clemens walk. After a Ryan Noda strikeout, Kevin Smith redeemed himself by driving in Taylor with a single to right field.

Samad Taylor struck out in the 5th.

He would collect his 3rd single of the game in the 7th but he was stranded at 2nd when Kacy Clemens struck out to end the inning.

Cullen Large lead the 9th inning off with a solo shot to right field. After Matt Morgan and Reggie Pruitt lined and grounded out to short, Chavez Young singled to center field; unfortunately, Samad Taylor came struck out looking.
