Dunedin was held to just 3 hits with Eduard Pinto going 2-for-3. Joshua Palacios was 0-for-4 but drove in a run.

DeGraaf pitched a good game but Jake Fishman and Juliandry Higuera each allowed a run to cross the plate in the 7th and 9th.

Player of the Day

POD Honourable Mention:

  • Pentecost was behind the plate for the Fisher Cats win. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
  • NH’s Gurriel Jr. plated 2 runs with an 8th inning homer, going 2-for-4. He is batting .347 and I’ve already started to hear his name as a possible call-up if one of the Blue Jays infielders go down or to replace a punchless Gift Ngope.
  • D-Jays Pinto went 2-for-4 and starter DeGraaf allowed 2 runs over 6.1IP.
  • Lansing’s shortstop Kevin Vicuna continues to swing a hot stick, going 4-for-5 with a run scored with just a strikeout.

Thursday, April 19th’s POD goes to Jordan Romano.

The Markham native picked up his 2nd win in 3 tries. That is back-to-back 7IP outings for the 24-yr-old right-hander. On Thursday, Romano threw 86 pitches, 52 for strikes while inducing 6 groundball outs versus 5 flyball outs.

Jordan had two strikeouts and a walk in the opening frame. He did not allow another baserunner until the 4th inning when Peter Alonso was hit by a pitch and Jeff McNeil walked. Matt Oberste singled in Alonso for the Ponies first run.

Romano got into some trouble again in the 5th. He got Tim Tebow to ground out and Levi Michael to line out before giving up a double, another HBP, and walk to load the bases. Romano got Alonso to end the threat.

He had a 1-2-3 6th and 7th inning, striking out the final two batters he faced.

Bo and Vlad Show

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. collected a pair of singles in 4 at-bats and scored a run. Vladdy is batting .362 with 5 doubles, a pair of dingers, and 13 RBI in 12 games.

Bo Bichette was given the day off.
