The Buffalo Bisons and New Hampshire Fisher Cats both lost, while the Lansing Lugnuts picked up their 10th win.

Triple-A

Buffalo Bisons (4-5)

Buffalo has lost back-to-back games and were held to just two runs. The Durham Bulls win 8 to 1

Dwight Smith Jr. drove in the clubs only run with an infield sac, he also stole a base in the game. Rodwy Tellez picked up 2 hits and is batting .200.

Dalton Pompey was given the day off and Anthony Alford went 0-for-4 with a pair strikeouts.

Joe Biagini and Chad Girodo combined to allow 7 runs. Biagini looked good between the 1st and 5th before looking gased around the 90 pitch mark in the 6th.

Starter- Biagini 5.1IP, 6H, 4R, 2BB, 3K, and an HRA on 96 pitches

L- Biagini (0-1, 3.48 ERA)

Tuesday, April 24th starting pitcher- Chris Rowley (1-0, 0.00 ERA)

Double-A

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (11-5)

The Cats lost 8 to 5.

The meat of the order, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Cavan Biggio, and Max Pentecost each had a pair of hits with Biggio and Pentecost going deep. Harold Ramirez also picked up 2-hits in the loss.

Juan Kelly walked 3 times and Jonathan Davis stole his 10th base.

Francisco Rios failed to get out of the 1st, retiring just one batter and allowing 2 balls to leave the yard. He left his previous start early so I suspect that he is still not right and we can expect a DL stint in his future.

Starter- Rios 0.1 IP, 5H, 6R, 2BB, and 2HRA on 33 pitches

L- Rios (0-2, 8.53 ERA)

Tuesday, April 24th starting pitcher-Jordan Romano (2-0, 1.42 ERA)

Advanced-A

Dunedin Blue Jays (7-9)

Postponed

Tuesday, April 24th starting pitcher- Partick Murphy (1-0, 3.38 ERA)

A-Ball

Lansing Lugnuts (10-6)

Lansing won 10 to 7.

Despite being outhit 13 to 9, the Lugs laid the boots to Cincinnati Reds top pitching prospect Hunter Greene with 7 first inning run.

Starter Maximo Castillo put up zero for the first 3 IP before allowing 4 runs in the 4th. He corrected himself with a scoreless 5th and 6th to pick up the win.

Donnie Sellers picked up 7 strikeouts but allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 2.2 innings of relief. He is starting to look more useful in the bullpen.

Chavez Young and Brock Lundquist went yard for Lansing with Young driving in 3 runs and Lundquist driving in 5 runs. Samad Taylor stole 3 bases while Kevin Vicuna and Christian William each had 2-hits. Vicuna 8 multi-hit games in 14 GP this season.

Starter- Castillo 6.0IP, 9H, 4R, BB, 4K and a HRA on 79 pitches

W- Castillo (1-0, 4.80 ERA)

SV- Kyle Weatherly (1)

Tuesday, April 24thstarting pitcher- Yennsy Diaz (1-0, 0.51 ERA)

Player of the Day

POD Honourable Mention:

  • The Herd’s Rowdy Tellez went 2-for-4. That’s back-to-back 2-for-4 games for the Bisons’ 1st baseman.
  • NH’s Vladdy (see below) and Harold Ramirez with a 2-for-4 game. Ramirez has three multi-hit games in the past 10 matches.
  • NH’s Conor Fisk threw 3 scoreless innings in relief of Rios. He allowed 2 hits, 2 walks, and picked up 2 K on 48 pitches. He’d be my bet to replace Rios.
  • Lansing’s Chavez Young with a HR and 3 RBI or Samad Taylor, who went 1-for-4 with a walk and 3 SB.

Saturday, April 1st’s POD goes to Brock Lundquist.

Brock was a 6th round pick in the 2017 draft; however, e no longer sports the stache. Brock had a powerful swing but a lot of swing and miss in his game. He has struggled out of the gate but maybe this game will help push him into a hot streak.

The 22 yr-old outfielder came to the plate in the 1st inning the bases loaded. He quickly fell behind 0-2 on a called strike and swinging strike. He fouled the next pitch off and took a ball before sending the 5 pitch of the at-bat over the wall in right centerfield for the grand slam.

He was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, lined out in the 5th, and scored Samad Taylor in the 7th on a sac fly for his 5th RBI of the game.

Bo and Vlad Show

Bo Bichette went 1-for-5 with a run scored, and a strikeout. Bichette left 4 runs on base and is now batting .288 and .233 over his last 10 games.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs walked once, and struck out twice. He was caught stealing and left one man on base. Vladdy is now batting .333 with 17 RBI.
