POD Honorable Mention:

Thursday, May 17th’s POD goes to Turner Larkins

Larkins improved to 3-3 with a strong outing against the Dayton Dragons. Turner Larkins allowed 4 hits over 6 innings while striking out 7.

The Arlington, Texas, native threw 45 of his 62 pitches for strikes and finished with 5 groundball outs and 2 flyball outs, good for a game score of 75.

The 2017 21st round pick retired the Dragons leadoff batter on strikes to get off on the right foot. He would add a pair of strikeouts in the 2nd and 3rd innings, one K each in the 4th and 6th inning. His 6th inning K came on a 1-2 count against Micheal Beltre, the final batter he would face.

The 6-foot-3 righty briefly ran into some trouble in the 5th inning. He allowed Montrell Marshall to reach base with an infield single but got Mark Kolozsvary to fly out to left field for the 1st out of the inning. Leandro Santana singled Marshall to 2nd base which brought Jose Garcia to the plate. Garica fouled off Larkins first offering before grounding into a rally-killing inning-ending double play.

Larkins started 5 games, piggybacked 2 games, and made one relief appearance. This was his longest start in 2018 but not the most pitches he has thrown (83 in his previous start). Larkins has won his last two starts. He has not allowed an earned run in 3 games, a span of 15 innings.

On the season Turner Larkins owns a record of 3-3 with a 3.38 ERA. He has allowed 37 hits (.298 opp BA) while walking 7 and striking out 31 in 32.0 IP. The 22-yr-old has a decent 1.38 WHIP and a 1.19 GO/AO.

Bo and Vlad Show

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 1-for-4 with a run scored, 2 LOB,  and a strikeout. He is batting .410 on the season.

Bo Bichette went 1-for-5 with a strikeout and 3 LOB. Bo is batting .270 on the season
