Friday, May 18th’s POD goes to Ryan Borucki
The 24-yr-old finished his outing on Friday with a season-high game score of 80. He threw 61 of his 96 pitches for strikes and didn’t allow a run for just the 2nd time in 7 starts.
The Bisons lefty didn’t allow an extra-base hit, surrendering a single in the 1st, a single in the 5th, and a single in the 7th. Scranton never got a runner to 3rd base while Borucki was on the bump. Vicente Conde (3rd inning) and Erik Kratz (5th inning) were the Scranton/WB baserunners to advance to 2nd base.
The former 2012 15th rounder had 4 called out on strikes and 2 swinging strike strikeouts. The 6 strikes outs are Borucki’s 2nd highest total of 2018. He struck out 7 batters on April 25th.
The native of Mundelein, IL surrendered just 3 hits, the lowest opponents batting of the season at .238 BA and 3rd time in a row he has held the opponent to under .300.
The 6-foot-4 was never in any trouble in this one. He improved to 3-4 and saw his ERA drop from 4.13 to 3.40. He now has 33 strikeouts and 13 walks while owning a tidy 1.21 WHIP.
Bo and Vlad Show
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-4 with a 2B and an RBI in Game 1. In Game 2 Vladdy went 0-for-2 with a run scored, a BB, and a strikeout. For the season, he is batting .407 with 7HR, 8.6 BB%, and 8.6 K%. He owns a .273 ISO and a .403 BABIP.
Bo Bichette was 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Game 1 and 0-for-3 with a run scored, a BB, and K in game 2. Bo has one hit in his last 15 at-bats, a span of 4 games. He is batting just .182 over his last 10 games. For the season, Bichette is batting .258 with 9 2B, 4 3B, a HR, and 14 RBI.
