Saturday, May 26th POD goes to Juan Kelly
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ Juan Kelly only played 12 games in April, splitting time at 1st base and DH with Cavan Biggio and Max Pentecost. Since Lourdes Gurriel Jr. left the Fisher Cats for Toronto and eventually Buffalo, Kelly has seen his playing time increase with Cavan Biggio taking over the everyday role at 2nd base.
The 23-yr-old Kelly played both ends of the Fisher Cats’ doubleheader, both games at 1st base. He went 1-for-3 in game 1 and 1-for-2 in game 2. Both the 5-foot-10’s hits were longballs and came with a runner on-base.
In game 1, Kelly homered after an Andrew Guillotte walk to put the Fisher Cats up 3 to 2; unfortunately, the bullpen was unable to hold the lead.
In game 2, the Santo Domingo, DR native went yard in the 3rd inning with Cavan Biggio on 1st base to give the Fisher Cats a 4 to 1 lead, this time the bullpen held on for the win.
Juan Kelly finished the day with 2 home runs, 2 runs scored, 4-RBI, 1-BB, 2-K, and 1-LOB.
On the season, Kelly is batting .222 with 5 doubles, 6 HR, 18 RBI, 20 BB, 37K, and 1 SB. Kelly owns a .349 OBP and is slugging .435 in 33 games.
Bo and Vlad Show
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-6 with a run scored and 1-RBI, playing both ends of the doubleheader at 3rd base. VGJ is batting .431 with 49 RBI and 1.193 OPS.
Bo Bichette played game one at SS and batting 2nd, he went 0-for-3 with a BB and 3-LOB. Bo Bichette also committed a pair of errors. In game 2, Bo played short and batted leadoff with Jonathan Davis being given game 2 off. Bichette went 1-for-2 with a run scored, a BB, a K, and 1-LOB. BB is batting .259 with 12 doubles, 4-3B, 3-HR, 21-RBI, and 10-SB. He also owns a .340 OBP and .756 OPS.
