Join Jays From the Couch as we highlight a handful of the outfielders currently on hot streaks in the Toronto Blue Jays system
Over the past 10 days, the Toronto Blue Jays farm system received some highly productive games from several of its talented young outfielders.
I’ve chosen one outfielder from each level to highlight for this piece for the main purpose of exposing the fanbase to prospects not named Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, and Cavan Biggio. I hope you enjoy it.
Anthony Alford has struggled for most of 2018; however, the top-rated prospect is riding a 5-game hit streak with three 2-hit games mixed in. Over the past 10 games, Alford has 10 hits, 3-2B, 4-RBI, and 3 stolen bases. Anthony Alford is batting .286 with a .730 OPS during this hot streak.
Overall- .196 BA, .494 OPS with 16-R, 4-2B, 7-RBI, and 5-SB.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats
Jonathan Davis is having an amazing season. He’s making it very difficult for the Blue Jays front office to continue keeping him in Double-A. The 26-yr-old outfielder has just one stolen base over the past 10 days but he is batting .429 with 13 hits, 8 runs scored, a double, a triple, 5-RBI, 5 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Davis collected hits in all but one game during this hot streak with six 2-hit games.
Overall- .299 BA, .810 OPS with 47-R, 14-2B, 2-3B, 2-HR, 17-RBI, and 15 SB.
Dunedin Blue Jays
Shipped to Toronto from Texas in exchange for Jason Grilli, Eduard Pinto has steadily put up better numbers the deeper into the season Dunedin gets. Pinto went 8-for-15 over his last 3 games and 14-for-40 in his last 10. The 23-yr-old from Venezuela is batting .385 with .946 OPS over the last 10 days. Pinto has 6 doubles, 4-RBI and 4-SB over his last 10 games.
Overall- .308 BA, .763 OPS, 21-R, 12-2B, 1-HR, 16-RBI, and 7-SB
The 20-yr-old Chavez Young is batting .324 with five multi-hit games over his last 10 games. The native of Bahamas is setting the table atop the Lugnuts’ batting order with a .486 OBP and 7 runs scored during this time. Chavez Young has 5 doubles and 4 stolen bases in the last 10 games while registering four 2-hit games and two 3-hit games.
Overall- .317 BA, .841 OPS, 37-R, 15-2B, 4-3B, 2-HR, 22-RBI, and 13-SB
Over the Past 10 Days (Not to be forgotten)
Roemon Fields went 11-for-36 with a .306 BA
Brock Lundquist went 10-for-29 with a triple, two home runs, 6-RBI, 7-BB, and 8-K while batting .345 and a 1.134 OPS.
