  • Vancouver’s Nick Podkul (1-for-2, R, 3B, 2-RBI)

Saturday, June 16th POD goes to Cavan Biggio

This POD was a tough one to hand out because I didn’t feel any one player really stood out. I almost gave it Rowdy Tellez for his performance but Reggie Pruitt also had a decent day. Ultimately, the 4-RBI game that Biggio had was too much to ignore.

Cavan Biggio picked up his first RBI of the game in the 1st inning with a sac fly to center to score Jon Berti.

Biggio led off the 4th inning with a groundout. With the score Altoona 6 and NH 1, Jon Berti on 3rd and Bo Bichette on 1st, Cavan Biggio sent the first pitch he saw over the right-center wall for a 3-run jack.

The former 5th round pick flew out in the 8th inning to end his day at the plate.

Biggio has slowed down in June. In 14 games, he is batting just .200 with two doubles, 1-HR, and 9 RBI while striking out 18 times. His last HR was on May 30, 15 games ago. For the season, the Houston, Texas native has produced some very strong numbers batting .287 with 13 doubles, 3 triples, 14 HR, 52-RBI, 44 walks, and 67 strikeouts.

Bo and Vlad Show

Vladimir Guerrero Jr remains of the 7-day DL and will be shut down for 4-ish weeks.

Bo Bichette collected a single, a double, a walk, and scored a pair of runs in the Fisher Cats loss. Bo also committed his 14th error on a throw to 1st base on Bralin Jackson groundball. Bo pushed his batting up to .284 from .279 and now has 17 doubles and 50 runs scored.
