Saturday, June 23rd POD goes to Christopher Bec.

Bec started at catcher and batted 2nd for the Vancouver Canadians on Saturday. This year’s 5th round selection is having some early success in his professional career and last night was no different. Bec went 3-for-5 with two doubles, and three runs batted in.

With one out in the 1st inning, Bec hit a 2-2 pitch to right field for his 3rd double of the season; unfortunately, Bec was out at 3rd on a fielder’s choice as Griffin Conine grounded out to the pitcher.

The 5-foot-11 catcher grounded out to end the 2nd inning, singled to right field in the 4th inning, and flew out to center field to end the 7th inning.

The native of Miami, FL, had a big 5th inning. With Vinny Capra on 1st base, Sterling Guzman on 2nd base, and Mc Gregory Contreras on 3rd base, Bec hit a rope to left field on the first pitch he saw for a three-RBI double (4). The Canadians took a commanding 7 to 2 lead and held on for the win.

In just 7 games, Christopher Bec is batting .370 with a .932 OPS, 4-2B, 4-RBI, a pair of walks, 4-K, and 2-SB. The 22-yr-old now has 4 multi-hit games to start his young career.

Bo and Vlad Show

Vladimir Guerrero Jr remains of the 7-day DL

Bo Bichette once again played ss and batted 3rd. He went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. Bo a run-scoring single in the 1st inning to give the Fisher Cats a 5 to 0 lead. The former 2nd round pick is batting .282 with .791 OPS and 36 RBI.
