Wednesday, July 4th POD goes the Chavez Young
Yesterday I struggled to pick one because there were so many performances but today was a lot easier. The Lansing Lugnuts right-fielder fell a homer shy of hitting the 2nd cycle in the Blue Jays system in 2018 and first for the Lugnuts since Edward Olivares did it last season.
Playing RF and batting second, Chavez Young hit a single in the 1st inning. He advanced to 2nd on a balk and was doubled off 2nd base when Brandon Grudzielanek lined out to short.
Chavez Young followed a run-scoring Kevin Vicuna double with a run-scoring double (22) of his own. Lansing 2 and Whitecaps 0. Young’s next at-bat came in the 6th inning, leading off the inning. He sent a 0-1 pitch through the right side of the infield and motored around to 3rd for a triple. Young scored on a Ryan Noda groundball to pull to within 2 runs, 5 to 3.
He went down swinging in the 8th to end his day at the plate.
The former 39th round selection has scuffled recently, batting just .226 in June and .225 over his last 10 games. Overall, Young holds a .293 batting average with 22 doulbes, 6 triples, 4 HR, 35 RBI, and 19 stolen bases.
Bo and Vlad Show
Vladimir Guerrero Jr remains of the 7-day DL.
Bo Bichette had another off day today, going 0-4, with a strikeout. Bichette has one hit in his last 5 games and is batting just .186 over his last 10 games. Overall, Bo Bichette has seen his batting average dip to .270. Bo has 21 doubles, 5 triples, 8-HR, 44-RBI, and 26 stolen bases in 81 games with NH.

Lover of all things Toronto Blue Jays. Blue Jays MiLB fanatic. I strive for average while stumbling onto above average. Rogers isn’t cheap. Baseball is a business. Your right, but I’m more right.
