Saturday, July 7th POD goes the Cavan Biggio and Jesus Severio

Biggio leadoff every inning he came to the plate expect the 9th inning. Cavan hit his 19th HR, a solo shot over the right-field fences, in the 2nd inning to put the Fisher Cats up 1 to 0. He walked in the 4th inning but Juan Kelly, Connor Panas, and Max Pentecost went 1-2-3. he struck out swinging in the 6th inning and singled and scored in the 8th inning.

 

Trailing 8 to 6, Biggio stepped to the plate in the bottom of the 9th with 2-outs, runners on 1st and 3rd. Biggio drilled a line drive to right-field scoring Jonathan Davis easily from 3rd base; unfortunately, Harold Ramirez was thrown out at home plate to end the game.

 

The 23-yr-old Biggio has three home runs his last 5 games, driving in 6 runs, and going 6-for-16. He has looked better at the plate in the last week, despite seeing his BA fall from .278 to .272. He has 11 walks and 12 K over his last 10 games.

 

After hitting three home runs between 2014 and 2017, Vancouver’s Jesus Severino has two home runs in 6 games with the C’s. Jesus was playing 3rd base and batting 7th for the Vancouver Canadians on Saturday. Severino put the C’s up 1 to 0 with a line drive over the center-field wall with 2-outs in the 2nd inning. He drove in a pair in the 4th inning with a double to center-field with Bryan Lizardo and Jake Brodt on 1st and 3rd. The 21-yr-old 2013 IFA signee singled and was stranded at 2nd base in the 5th inning. He struck out swinging in the 7th inning to end his day at the plate.

 

In just 8 games, 2 with Bluefield, the 6-foot-1 infielder has collected hits in 6 of 8 games for a .360 BA and 1.00 OPS. Severino has scored 4 runs while hitting a double, 2-HR, and driving in 7-RBI. He has yet to walk but has struck out 9 times.

 

Bo and Vlad Show

 

Vladimir Guerrero Jr remains of the 7-day DL.

 

Bo Bichette batted 2nd and played short for the Fisher Cats on Saturday. He went 1-for-5 with two RBI and two strikeouts. Bo continues to press at the plate with a .178 BA over his last 10 games; however, he is riding a mini 3-game hit streak and the 2-RBI game was the first RBI’s he’s driven in 7 games. Bo Bichette is batting .267 with 46 RBI.
