Tuesday, July 10th POD goes the D-Jays pitchers

The 24-yr-old Connor Eller was making just his 4th start of 2018. Eller has come out of the bullpen 20 times with the D-Jays and once with the Buffalo Bisons. This was Eller’s 2nd start in a row and now owns a record of 1-0, 0.60 ERA as a starter versus 3-2, 4.56 ERA out of the bullpen. Eller threw 55 of his 75 pitches for strikes and finished with 5 flyball outs and 5 groundball outs.

Connor Eller produced 1-2-3 innings in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th innings, getting a little help from catcher Riley Adams gunning Raul Rivas down at 2nd base. He allowed just a single in the 1st inning and two singles in the 4th inning but escaped unscathed.

In his final inning of work, Eller got a groundball out to 2nd baseman Kevin Smith to start the 6th inning. Eller hit Luke Williams with a pitch and got Henri Lartigue to fly out to Brock Lundquist in left field. On his 75th pitch, Eller surrendered his 5th single of the outing before turning the game over to Jonathan Cheshire.

The 23-yr-old right-handed reliever got Mickey Moniak to ground out to David Jacob to end the threat. Cheshire got the first two out of the 7th with fly balls to the outfield before giving up a 2-out single to Grenny Cumana. Jonathan Cheshire got the next batter to ground out. The righty reliever got the first two outs of the 8th inning and turned it over the Jackson McClelland.

McClelland allowed the first batter he faced to reach on a soft single to the outfield but got Jose Pujols to go down swinging. Jackson got Moniak to pop out in foul ground to start the 9th inning and got Edgar Cabral and Kyle Martin to strike out to end the game.

Well done gents.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr remains of the 7-day DL. Rumor has it that he will head to Triple-A soon after coming off the DL.

Bo Bichette and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats are off for the All-Star break.
