Wednesday, July 11th POD goes to Ryan Noda

I do my best not to have too many repeat POD’s but it happens. Ryan Noda had, by far, the best stat line on Wednesday with 3 extra-base hits and three runs batted in. You’ll see a lot of Chavez Young in coming paragraphs, let me know if you think Young should’ve been Wednesday’s POD.

So let’s get to it.

Batting clean up and playing 1st base, Ryan Noda’s 1st plate appearance came leading off the 2nd inning with his 17th double of the year. Ryan Gold singled through the right side of the infield to scored Noda and give the Nuts a 1 to 0 lead.

In the 3rd inning, Ryan Noda sent a 1-2 pitch to center field which Torii Hunter Jr. couldn’t run down to score Chavez Young after he hit a one-out double. Lansing up 2 to 0.

Chavez Young led off the 5th inning with a walk and a stolen base before Noda hit his 18th double to score Young from 2nd base. Unfortunately, Brandon Grudzielanek, Noberto Obeso, and Ryan Gold could not drive Noda in from 2nd base. Lansing up 4 to 0.

With Chavez Young at 3rd base, after picking up his 7th triple of 2018, with one out, Ryan Noda sent a 0-2 pitch to Torii Hunter Jr. in center field for a sac fly. Lansing up 5 to 1. Noda struck out swinging in the 9th inning to end his day at the plate.

With his 3-for-4, 3-RBI performance, Ryan Noda snapped out of his little slump. Heading into Wednesday’s action, Ryan Noda was 8-for-37 over his previous 10 games. Good for a .216 BA. Overall, Noda is batting .260 with a .904 OPS, 18 doubles, 2 triples, and 11 home runs.

Bo and Vlad Show

Vladimir Guerrero Jr remains of the 7-day DL. Rumor has it that he will head to Triple-A soon after coming off the DL.

Bo Bichette and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats are off for the All-Star break.
