Top Performers:

Saturday, August 25th POD goes to Max Pentecost

The former 1st round selection has looked really good in the second half. I’ve said it before but it’s worth saying again, it doesn’t matter what Pentecost does at the plate if he can stay healthy all season. So far he’s stayed off the DL and after a sluggish 1st half, Pentecost has put together a very good 2nd half.

Well, that very good 2nd half continued last night when the 6-foot-2 catcher went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four runs batted in. Max batted 3rd and played behind the plate for the Fisher Cats.

Max Pentecost singled and scored in the 1st inning. He hit an RBI single in the 5th inning, scoring Forrest Wall to knot the game up at 5’s. Pentecost scored on a Santiago Espinal single.

With one out, runners on 1st (Forrest Wall) and 2nd (Jon Berti), and the Fisher Cats trailing the Rumble Ponies 7 to 6 in the bottom of the 8th inning, Max Pentecost sent the 6th pitch of the at-bat over for a ride over the right-field wall (9). NH 9 to 7.

Pentecost is riding a 7-game hit streak while batting .380 in August and he’s owned LHP (.333) this year. Overall, Max is batting .254 with 17 doubles, a pair of triples, 9 HR, and 49 RBI in 85 games in Double-A.

Bo and Vlad Show

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. picked a single, an RBI, and two walks going 1-for-3. The 19-yr-old owns a .394 batting average with 27 doubles, 18 HR, and 73 RBI in 87 games between Double-A and Triple-A.

Bo Bichette had the day off on Saturday. Bo is batting .300 over his last 10 games and has 38 doubles in 122 games in Double-A.
