Top Performers:

Sunday, August 26th POD goes to Jon Berti

With the minor league season winding down and Berti’s future in this organization likely drawing to a close, I had to honor a true professional with Sunday’s POD. This is a gift, Berti earned it, going 3-for-5 and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.

Playing 3rd base and batting leadoff for the Fisher Cats, Jonny Hustle reached base in the bottom of the 1st inning on an error but was picked off of 1st base. To make up for the baserunning mistake, Berti hit a leadoff HR to start the Fisher Cats half of the 3rd inning, NH 2 to 1.

The former 18th round selection of the 2011 Draft singled in Patrick Cantwell in the 4th inning pushed the Fisher Cats lead to 5 to 1. Berti doubled (10) in the 8th inning and scored on Cavan Biggio‘s groundball to 1st base, NH 7 to 1.

Jon Berti is swinging a hot bat, batting .368 over his last 10 games and riding an 11-game on-base streak. Since returning to the Blue Jays organization in June Berti owns a .285 batting average with 10 doubles, 4 triples, 6HR, 37 RBI, and 19 SB.

It’s a bloody shame that Jon Berti has never been given a fair shot at playing in the Major Leagues. So deserving.

Bo and Vlad Show

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a rare hitless game but he still got on-base with a walk. The 0-for-4 day at the plate hurts Guerrero’s quest for a .400 season. Vladdy is batting .354 with the Herd and .389 overall.

Bo Bichette had a perfect day at the plate on Sunday going 2-for-2 with a run scored (87), a double (39), and a pair of walks (45-.338 OBP). Bichette is doing his best to finish the year batting over .280 by batting .368 over his last 10 games and currently owns a .279 batting average.
