Top Performers:

Monday, August 27th POD goes to Chad Spanberger

After knocking the cover off the ball for much of the season in A-Ball, Spanberger was promoted on August 6th to Advanced-A Dunedin. It’s been a struggle since.

The former 6th round selection of the Colorado Rockies, Spanberger had himself a good game on Monday with his third multi-hit game in 18 games with the D-Jays.

The D-Jays RF grounded out to end the bottom of the 1st inning with Brock Lundquist on 2nd base and two runs already across the plate. He was thrown out trying to streak a single into a double in the 4th inning.

In the 6th inning, Spanberger sent a 2-2 pitch over the wall in right field, scoring Brock Lundquist and gave Dunedin a 5 to 0 lead. In his final at-bat, Chad Spanberger led off the 8th inning with a double (2) to center field. He came around to score the D-Jays final run off a Kacy Clemens single.

Spanberger had nothing left to prove in A-Ball and while his stats in Dunedin are not inspiring, they are expected. Spanberger’s batting average detract from his excellent .360 OBP thanks to a 12/13 BB/K ratio. His slugging percent should increase next at this level which should drive up his ISO and batting average.

Bo and Vlad Show

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. picked up a big hit with a 2-run HR in the 1st inning of a Bisons loss. Unfortunately, that was if for Vlad as he finished 1-for-4.

Bo Bichette played SS and batted 2nd in the Fisher Cats order. Bo went 2-for-5 with a run scored, a double, and an RBI. He committed a pair of errors giving him 22 on the season. With his double today, Bo has 40 doubles in 2018.
