Wednesday, August 29th POD goes to Santiago Espinal

 

The former Red Sox prospect went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a pair of runs batting in, and walk.

 

The 23-yr-old infielder played 2nd base and batted 6th for the Fisher Cats in the loss. He singled in his first at-bat in the 2nd inning. Espinal scored his first run on a Connor Panas double to give the Fisher Cats a 2 to 1 advantage. The Dominican Republic native singled and scored again in the 4th inning. NH 3 to 5.

 

In the 5th inning, with Cavan Biggio standing at 2nd base with no-out and one run already across, Espinal hit a 3-1 pitch over the left field wall for his 1st Double-A homer. The 2-run shot pulled NH to within one run, 7 to 8.

In the final inning, the scored 10 to 9 for the Sea Dogs, Espinal worked an 8-pitch walk to leadoff the in the inning; unfortunately, Panas struck out, Andrew Guillotte flew out, and Wall grounded out to end the game.

 

Santiago Espinal batted .313 with 7 HR and 32 RBI with the Red Sox Advanced-A club in 65 games. In 54 games since the trade, he owns a .263 batting with 3 HR and 27 RBI between AA and Advanced-A. In the last 10 game with the Fisher Cats, Santiago is batting .275 with 5 runs scored, a HR, and 7 RBI.

 

Bo and Vlad Show

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 0-for-4 with a strikeout, dropping his Triple-A batting average to .333.

 

Bo Bichette went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, a double, and a pair of base on balls. With last nights output, Bo has increased his EL lead in hits to 148, runs scored to 92, and doubles to 43. Bo needs to one more SB, current at 32, to tie Cole Tucker for first in the EL and one more triple to move into a three-way tie for first with 7. Bichette is batting .286 with a .344 OBP and .456 SLG%.
