The Surprise Saguaros played 7 games since my last update and own a record of 5-6.
Game 6- Surprise was defeated by Peoria 16-8. Guerrero Jr. went 3-for-4 with a double. He drove in three runs and drew a walk. Santiago Espinal failed to get a hit again but he did walk twice while scoring a run and striking out once. Espinal also swiped his first base of the AFL season. Zach Jackson came into the game 6th inning but did not put forth his best performance. Jackson allowed 2 walks and surrendered 3 runs on one hit and strikeout in 2/3 of an inning.
Game 7- Surprise fell to 4-3 with a 7-2 loss to Peoria. Cavan Biggio went 0-for-4 with a walk and a pair of strikeouts. Vladdy went 1-for-4 while DH’ing. Jackson McClelland entered the game in the 7th inning. He struggled with control, walking 3 batters and no strikeouts. Jackson didn’t allow any hits or runs in his 2 innings while throwing just 18 of his 35 pitches for strikes.
Game 8- Surprise was rocked by Mesa, 18 to 2. Biggio was moved down the line up to 7th and played 1st base, going 0-for-3 with a pair of K’s. He also committed an error. Nate Pearson surrendered 8 runs on 5 hits, a home run, and 4 walks in an inning of work. He struck out 3 batters.
Game 9- Surprise snapped their 3 game losing streak with a 3 to 1 win over Mesa. Vlad was back at 3rd base and went 1-for-3 with a walk. Biggio was at 2nd base and snapped his hitless streak with a 2-for-3 with an RBI. Espinal finally got his first AFL hit with a 1-for-4 game. Shawn Morimando started the game and allowed a run, via the long ball, on two hits, two walks, and 3 K’s over 2.2 IP. Zack Jackson threw 2 hitless innings with 2 K’s.
Game 10- Surprise fell 9 to 7 in extra innings to Scottsdale. With his first AFL hit under his belt, Espinal went 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored, a triple, a walk, and a strikeout while playing LF and batting 2nd. Espinal also picked up an outfield assist. McClelland got the last two outs of the 4th inning and pitched a clean 5th inning for his 2nd hold. McClelland didn’t allow a hit, walked one, and struck out two batters.
Game 11- Surprise lost another one, this time 8 to 5. Vladdy went 1-for-4 playing 3rd and batting 3rd.
Leones Del Caracas (CAR)
OF Harold Ramirez– The Fisher Cats breakout outfielder is seeing a lot of playing time in Venezuela and is performing well. In 8 games, Ramirez only has one game without a hit but has reached base in all 8 games. Harold Ramirez is batting .394 with 3 RBI, and a stolen base in 33 at-bats.
OF Eduard Pinto– The 23-yr-old outfielder was used lightly this week but did have a heck of a game on the 21st. Pinto went 5-for-6 with a run scored and 4 RBI. Eduard Pinto owns a .273 batting with 4-RBI in 7 games.
Tigres de Aragua (ARA)
IF Yeltsin Gudino– The 21-yr-old infielder played 5 games last week with a pair of 2-for-4 games. Gudino picked up a pair of RBI on October 18th and now has 5 this offseason. Yeltsin is batting .321 with a pair of doubles, a pair of runs, and a 2:2 BB:K ratio in 7 games.
IF Kevin Vicuna– The 20-yr-old infielder played 3 games last week. Vicuna went hitless in two games but went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI on October 20th’s game. In 5 games, Vicuna is batting .267 with three walks, a pair of strikeouts and a stolen base.
P Nicolas Medina– The 18-yr-old pitched for Bluefield in 2018. The lefty has seen limited action, appearing in three games last week. He’s allowed one hit in 2.2IP and no runs while issuing a walk and striking out one.
P Elio Silva– The 23-yr-old has not pitched since October 14th and owns a 27.00 ERA in two games.
Tomateros de Culiacan (CUL)
OF Roemon Fields– In 6 games, Fields owns a .333 batting with 9 hits in 27 at-bats. Fields stole four bases this week with three 2-hit games. Roemon Fields has walked 5 times and struck out 3 times in 8 games.
P Francisco Rios– The righty appeared in two games this past week. He threw one clean inning in his 1st appearance and allowed a run on two hits in his 2nd outing. Rios owns a 0-0 record and 4.50 ERA with a walk and no strikeouts.
Aguilas de Mexicali
P Dalton Rodriguez– Rodriguez made three appearances, allowing no runs and one hit in 4.1 IP. Dalton walked 2 and struck out 3 batters over 2.1IP on Oct 18th.
Liga de Beisbol Dominicano
Leones del Escogido (ESC)
OF Jonathan Davis– Davis hasn’t been able to get things going this offseason, batting just .087 with a pair of hits and a run in 23 at-bats. Davis has struck out seven times with no walks but one stolen base.
INF Juan Kelly– The 5’10” corner infielder is batting .250 with a double, an RBI, three walks, and 5 strikeouts in 6 games.
