The Arizona Fall League is a wrap. The Peoria Javelinas won their second straight AFL title with a 3-2 win over Salt River.

AFL

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. finished with a .351 batting average in 19 AFL games. Vladdy collected 17 RBI and showed excellent patience at the plate with 8 walks and 6 strikeouts. While not hitting a home run, Vladdy did pick up 7 doubles.

Cavan Biggio finished with a 2-for-4 game with a double and a run batted in on November 14th. Biggio’s AFL experience was an extension of his 2018 season, good walk (15BB) and power (2HR) numbers with a low batting average (.262 BA) and high-ish strikeout (15K) numbers.

Santiago Espinal finished strong to post a respectable .250 batting average, 3 doubles, a triple, and 4 RBI in 15 games. Santiago picked up a pair of RBI in his final game (Nov. 15th) with a 1-for-4 game.

Zach Jackson will leave the AFL with a 1-1 record and a 4.05 ERA. He walked 9 batters and struck out 17 across 13.1 innings. Overall, Jackson held opponents to a tidy .130 batting average in 9 appearances.

Jackson McClelland allowed 7 runs (6 earned) over his final four appearances to tarnish an otherwise successful AFL experience. McClelland finishes with one loss and a 4.91 ERA with walking 9 and striking out 15 batters over 8 appearances. Opponents batted .154 off McClelland in 11.0 IP.

Shawn Morimando allowed 18 runs on 28 hits over 21.2 innings (7 games). He leaves the AFL with a record of 0-2 and 6.65 ERA. Opponents batted a healthy .304 off Morimando. Not the experience he was hoping for.

Nate Pearson had a mixed bag AFL experience. Big Nate allowed 15 runs across three outings but threw 12.1 shutout innings in his other three starts. Overall, Nate struck out 23, walked 13, and finished with a record of 2-2, 6.20 ERA.
