On Thursday, April 18th, the system had its first cycle of 2019 in Lansing, Bo and Vlad had the day off, Ryan Noda was perfect for Dunedin, and New Hampshire’s Alberto Mineo continues to be the straw that stirs the Fisher Cats offense.

Thursday, April 18th POD goes to Ryan Gold

 

The 21-yr-old had a game for the ages and one he will not soon forget. The 27th round pick hit the for the cycle while driving in 7 of the Lugnuts 12 runs.

 

DH’ing and batting out of the cleanup spot, Ryan Gold got things going in the 1st inning crossing off the single from the ‘The Cycle Checklist’. With Alejandro Kirk standing on 3rd base and Otto Lopez standing on 1st base, Gold drove the into center field for his first triple for the Lugnuts first runs of the game. Gold would score on Nick Podkul‘s single to tie the game at 3-3.

 

The 4th inning started with three consecutive singles, an infield pop up, and a run-scoring single. This setup things up for Ryan Gold to add to his RBI total for the day as he scored Reggie Pruitt with a ground ball to 2nd for the 2nd out of the inning. Lansing 6 to 3 and Gold with 3 RBI.

 

Gold strode to the plate with bases juiced, ripping a 1-0 pitch over the right field wall for a grand slam (1) and RBI’s 4, 5, 6, and 7. Single, check. Triple, check. HR, check.

 

With just a double left on The Cycle Checklist, Ryan Gold sent a flyball to left field for his 1st double of the year and completed the cycle. He finished 4-for-5 with 3 runs and 6 RBI.

 

In 10 games, Ryan Gold is batting .250 with a .771 OPS and 9 RBI.

 

Cullen Large, Otto Lopez, and Alejandro Kirk On-Base Streak

Cullen Large extended his streak to 13 games. Large picked up a pair of hits, scored a pair of runs, and struck out once. He is now batting .318 with 1.032 OPS

 

Otto went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored, an RBI, and a walk to extend his on-base streak to 11 games. Lopez is batting .366 with a .966 OPS.

 

Kirk pushed his on-base streak to 11 games with a 3rd inning single. He is batting average to .333 with a .991 OPS.
