The Blue Jays minor league system went 2 for 3 with the Bisons and Fisher Cats enjoying an off day. The D-Jays played their 2nd doubleheader in a row.

The 21-yr-old Troy Watson made his 2019 season debut on the mound for Lansing and didn’t fare well. Lansing made a game of it, taking the Loons to extra innings but lost 8 to 7.

Monday, May 20th POD goes to Nick Podkul

 

Lansing’s infielder collected 2 hits on 4 at-bats in the Lugnuts extra-inning loss. He played 2nd base and batted 3rd.

He drew a walk in his first AB and stole his 8th base but was stranded when Moreno popped out to end the inning. Podkul hit an RBI double (9) in the 3rd inning to bring the Bolts to within two runs, 4 to 2. He scored on Moreno’s single to left field to pull to within one run.

 

The 22-yr-old grounded out in the 5th inning. He singled in the 7th inning, scoring Reggie Pruitt from 3rd base to make the score 7 to 4 for the Loons. Podkul reached base on a fielding error to lead off the 9th but was erased when Ryan Gold grounded into a double play.

 

The 2018 7th round selection is batting .279 with 9 doubles, a HR, 9 RBI, 23BB, 20K, and a .780OPS while splitting his time between 2nd and 3rd.

 

 

The Biggio and Espinal Show

Cavan Biggio and the Buffalo Bisons did not play on Monday. Biggio is batting .315 with a .961OPS. He entered play with a .416 wOBA, 148 wRC+, and a 1.12 BB/K.

 

Santiago Espinal and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats did not play on Monday. He is batting .282 with a .715OPS. He is batting just .222 with a .255 OBP against LHP.
