The Blue Jays minor league system 2-for-4. It’s funny, this is normally the last line I finish when completing these recap. I completely gapped on writing it in before hitting publish.

Triple-A

Buffalo Bisons (21-28)

You know, with a roster filled with potential major leaguers/former top-rated prospect, you’d think this club would be winning more games. The Herd managed to score just two runs, losing 9 to 2.

Top Performers:

Player of the Day

Thursday, May 30th POD goes to Griffin Conine.

The 2018 2nd round selection was outstanding in the 2nd game since returning from a 50-game suspension. Playing RF and batting 3rd, Griffin struck out in his first at-bat for his only wasted plate appearance of the evening.

Conine hit his first double of the season, leading off the 3rd inning. He stroked a one-out double in the 5th and scored on a single off the bat of Ryan Gold. Leading off the 7th inning, Conine went yard for the first time in 2019. He let the park again in the 8th inning, a 2-run affair.

The Lugnuts right fielder finished with a 4-for-5 game, 3 runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, three RBI, and a strikeout. In two games, Conine is batting .556…..some regression is expected.

On-Base Streak

Outfield prospect, Anthony Alford batted out of the leadoff spot and played some RF for Buffalo. The 24-yr-old top prospect continues to swing a hot bat with double (8) in his 2nd at-bat. Alford extended his hit streak to 7-games and his on-base streak to 16 games.

The former 3rd round selection has seen his batting average climb from .190 to .228 by batting .290 in May and .341 over the last 10 games.

The Santiago Espinal and Alejandro Kirk Show

Santiago Espinal manned the keystone and 2nd for the Fisher Cats. He picked up a single and walked in four at-bats. The 24-yr-old infielder has reached base in 12 games but is only batting .220 over his last 10 games. Overall, Espinal is batting .268 with a .673 OPS.

Alejandro Kirk received the day off. The 20-yr-old catcher is batting .365 with 9 doubles and 12 RBI in 16 FSL games.
