Monday, June 3rd POD goes to Nick Allgeyer
You can see Allgeyer’s pitching line above. The 23-yr-old lefty threw 63 of his pitches for strikes. He induced 5 ground ball out versus just one fly ball out. The 10K’s set a new career high, breaking his previous high of 8K’s which he recorded on April 6th and May 18th.
Allgeyer started the game with back-to-back called strike 3’s before allowing a singled and an RBI double. He struck out the side in the 2nd inning with two swinging 3rd strikes and a called 3rd strike. He got his 4th ‘called out on strikes’ in the 3rd inning.
The 2018 12th round selection retired the side in order in the 4th inning, closing out the frame with a swinging strike 3. Nick collected two more strikeouts in the 5th inning where he allowed two singles but out of the inning without surrendering a run.
The 6th inning was his final frame. Nick Allgeyer allowed a leadoff single, followed by a pair of infield outs, and finished off the inning with his 10th strikeout.
Overall, the 6-foot-3 out of St. Louis, MO owns a record of 4-3 with a 2.35ERA in 11 starts. He has walked 9 batters and allowed 51 hits in 61.1IP for a 0.98 WHIP. Allgeyer has struck out 66 batters and owns a 9.11K/9 with a .270FIP and 3.00xFIP.
Forrest Wall remains at 14-games with his hit streak as the Fisher Cats received a day of rest. The former 2012 1st rounder is batting .512 over the last 10 games, bumping his batting average from .270 to .315.
