The Blue Jays minor league system went a perfect 5-for-5. Bo Bichette continues his rehab with Dunedin

Buffalo Bisons (27-33)

 

The Bisons won 9 to 2 and will look for the sweep of the IronPigs on Sunday. The Herd scored 3 runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 8th innings and the pitching staff surrendered a pair of solo home runs.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (27-32)

 

The Cats took game 2 from the Flying Squirrels 5 to 4. New Hampshire took the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the 7th inning. Richmond scored 3 runs in the top of the 8th to take the lead back, 4-2. NH tied the game in the bottom of the 8th inning with a pair of runs and forced extra innings.

Santiago Espinal, who started the 10th inning on 2nd base, watched Riley Adams and Alberto Mineo go down on strikes. Joshua Palacios was intentionally walked and Kevin Smith walked on 4 pitches to load the bases. Espinal stole home and the win.

Saturday, June 8th POD goes to Dunedin’s bullpen

 

Mike Ellenbest, 24-yr-old righty, who I thought retired this offseason, threw 3 scoreless innings in relief of Nick Allgeyer. Ellenbest threw 30 of his 52 pitches for strikes, walking one, and striking out 3 batters. He induced 3 groundball outs and 2 flyball outs. On the season, Mike Ellenbest has proven to be a valuable long man out the bullpen since joining Dunedin mid-May. He owns a 1.98ERA in 13.2IP with 7/7 BB/K (rusty???).

 

Jackson Rees, 24-yr-old righty, made his Florida State League debut with 3 scoreless innings in relief of Ellenbest. Rees was promoted from Lansing on June 6th after posting a record of 2-0 with a 0.36ERA over 25.1 innings (14 appearances). He walked 4 and struck out 44, holding opponents to a .149 BA. On Saturday, Rees allowed a pair of hits and 2 walks while striking out 4 batters. He threw 33 of his 50 pitches for strikes, inducing one groundball out and 2 flyball outs.

 

Last but not least, Brad Wilson, 22-yr-old righty, threw 2 innings of no-hit relief. Wilson converted his 4th save in 4 opportunities. He threw 15 of his 19 pitches for strikes, didn’t walk a batter while finishing with 3 strikeouts. Wilson got 3 groundball outs and no flyball outs. Overall, Brad Wilson has made 20 relief appearances for the D-Jays. He has a record of 1-1 with a 1.32ERA, walking 6 and striking out 32 in 27.1IP. Opponents are batting just .155 and he owns a 0.77WHIP.

 

Hit Streak

Nash Knight batted 9th and played 1B for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The 26-yr-old out of Denton, TX went 0-for-3 with an RBI, ending his hit streak at 13-games. The switch-hitter is batting .276 with 10 doubles, a triple, 3HR, and 16RBI in 41 games.

 

The Griffin Conine and Alejandro Kirk Show

 

Griffin Conine played in RF and batted 3rd for the Lugnuts. The 21-yr-old former 2nd round went 1-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Conine struck out twice and is batting .436.

 

Alejandro Kirk was behind the plate and batted cleanup for the D-Jays. He went 2-for-3 with a run scored, two RBI, and two walks. Kirk is batting .333 over his last 10 games and .346 in 23 games with the D-Jays. He has 11 doubles, 16RBI, 11/10 BB/K and an outstanding .921 OPS with Dunedin.
