Top Performers:

Player of the Day

Monday, July 29th POD goes to Otto Lopez

The adopted Canadain (raised in Montreal) went 3-for-5 with two runs. He played SS and was the Lugnuts number 1 hitter. He singled in the 1st inning, singled and scored in the 7th inning, and singled and scored in the 8th inning.

Otto is primarily being used as the club’s SS with a few games at 2B (14GP) and OF (3GP). Unfortunately, Lopez has committed 21 errors but he’s turned 30 double plays. In 77 games, Otto Lopez has scored 38 runs, 10 doubles, 2 triples, 4HR, and 32 RBI while walking 25 times and striking out 51. The 20-yr-old has 16 SB and 12CS.

Had he not missed most of June (IL from June 2 to 21st) maybe he’d received a promotion. Otto Lopez has not finished with a batting average under .296 for a month.

With 2 games remaining for the Lugnuts in July, Otto Lopez is batting .273 with not doubles or triples and just one HR. He isn’t getting on-base as much in July with a .298OBP after getting on-base at a .366 and .364 clip in April and May. The 20-yr-old is finishing the month strong batting .333 with multi-hit games in 5 of his last 10 games.

The Bo Bichette and Griffin Conine Show (CANCELLED)

Bo Bichette made his MLB debut against the Kansas City Royals. He played SS and batted 6th.

Griffin Conine was in RF for the Lansing Lugnuts. He batted 3rd and went 2-for-5 with an RBI and yes, 2 strikeouts. The former 2nd rounder owns a .275BA and 38RBI in 49GP.

Any suggestions on who you’d like to see join Conine?
