Player of the Day
Monday, August 5th POD goes to Kacy Clemens
I once felt that Clemens strong play around the bag and his power potential was good enough to play in the majors one day. It appears I misjudged his ability. Kacy Clemens has seen his development stall since graduating from Lansing. In 2018 as a member of the Lansing Lugnuts, Kacy Clemens batted .301 with 25/22 BB/K and 7HR in 27 games. He received a promotion up to Dunedin, A-Advanced, and hasn’t looked comfortable since.
Clemens DH’d for the D-Jays and batted 5th. Clemens singled in the 2nd inning and scored off a Kevin Vicuna double to give the D-Jays a 2-0 advantage. He hit his 7th home run in the 3rd inning, scoring Demi Orimoloye for a 6 to 1 lead. Clemens drew a one-out walk in the 5th inning but was left standing at 2nd base. He walked and was stranded at 2nd base again in the 7th inning to end his day.
In 65 games with Dunedin, Clemens continues to struggle against FSL pitching with a .175 batting average. He’s collected just 6 doubles, a triple, and 7 HR while batting in 27. Clemens has walked 26 times but struck out 78 times while posting an ugly .568OPS. At 25-yrs-old, not sure how much is left here.
The Kevin Smith and Griffin Conine Show
Kevin Smith …..no game
Griffin Conine played game 1 but not game 2. He manned RF and batted 4th. He went 1-for-3 with a strikeout. The 22-yr-old has hits in each of his previous 7 games, including 4HR. Conine is batting .282 with 11 doubles, 2 triples, and 17HR while posting a .949OPS in 55 games.

Lover of all things Toronto Blue Jays. Blue Jays MiLB fanatic. I strive for average while stumbling onto above average. Rogers isn’t cheap. Baseball is a business. Your right, but I’m more right.
