Tuesday, August 6th POD goes to Billy McKinney

 

The 24-yr-old former 1st round selection went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI and walks to go along with a run scored and a stolen base.

 

Batting 2nd and playing RF for the Herd, McKinney singled in the 1st inning, advanced to 3rd base on an RBI single off the bat of Richard Urena. Patrick Kivlehan drove Billy home with a triple.

 

The outfielder singled in the 4th inning but was stranded. He singled again in the 6th inning, scoring Jonathan Davis to give the Herd a 4-2 lead.

 

McKinney walked in the 2nd inning and to lead off the 9th inning.

 

In 33 games with Buffalo, Billy McKinney is batting .288 with 7 doubles, 4 triples, 4 HR, 20RBI, and 21/20 BB/K while holding a .918OPS.

 

The Kevin Smith and Griffin Conine Show

 

Kevin Smith played SS and batted 6th for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. He went 3-for-4 with a run scored, a double, a home run, four RBI, and a strikeout. Smith hit #17 in the 5th inning over the CF wall to score Knight and Adams. He doubled (18) in the 7th inning to score Palacios with the Fisher Cats 6th run. The 23-yr-old SS is slowly climbing out of the hole he dug with early-season woes. He is batting .235 in 5 August games but .286 over his last 10 for a .217 batting average and inched over .700 (.702) OPS.

 

Griffin Conine played RF and batted cleanup. He went 1 for 4 with a trio of K’s. The 22-yr-old has hits in his last 8 games but has struck out in 16 games reaching back to July 17th.
