Player of the Day

Wednesday, August 7th POD goes to Miguel Hiraldo

The 18-yr-old infield prospect has connected to home runs in back-to-back games, driving in 3 runs on Tuesday and 5 more on Wednesday. Hiraldo was playing 2nd base and batting 3rd for the Bluefield Blue Jays.

Miggy doubled (13) home Justin Ammons in the 3rd inning to tie the game, 2-2. Bluefield scored 6 runs in the 8th inning, Hiraldo’s 6th HR accounted for 4 of them. With the base juiced, Hiraldo jacked a 0-1 pitch over the left center field wall, scoring D.J. Daniels, Ammons, and Leonardo Jimenez. The Grandy pushed the Blue Jays lead to 11 to 4.

In 40 games, Hiraldo is batting .305 with 13 doubles, a triple, 6HR, 28RBI, 11/24 BB/K, and a .862OPS.

The Kevin Smith and Griffin Conine Show

Kevin Smith played SS and batted 6th for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. He went 0-for-1 with a walk in the shortened game. Smith is batting .216 with the Fisher Cats.

Griffin Conine played RF and batted cleanup. He went 0 for 4 with a pair of K’s. The 22-yr-old was unable to extend his 8-game hit streak but extended his strikeout streak to 17 games, dating back to July 17th. Conine is batting .276 as he watches his BA slowly fall.
