Player of the Day
Saturday, August 10th POD goes to the Lansing pitching staff.
The Dayton Dragons were held hitless until Mile Gordon hit a one-out triple in the 6th inning. This would be the only hit the Dragons would get.
Starter Troy Watson picked up his 6th win, throwing 59 of his 87 pitches for strikes. He generated 7 flyball outs and 7 groundball outs. Watson struck out 4 and didn’t walk a batter. The 22-yr-old righty has carried his July success into August. In July, Watson went 3-1 with a 2.08ERA in 5 games and has gone 1-1 with a 2.08ERA in two August starts.
Will McAffer and Cre Finfrock each chucked an inning in relief of Watson. McAffer did not allow a hit, striking out 3 batters to lower his ERA to 4.14. Will McAffer threw 10 of his 14 pitches for strikes while striking out the side in the 7th inning.
Finfrock threw 8 of his 12 pitches for strikes, throwing a perfect 9th inning. Finfrock struck out 2 batters with no walks in his inning of service. He has converted a perfect 13 for 13 in save opportunities while striking out 43 in 33.1IP.
The Kevin Smith and Griffin Conine Show

He is batting .333 with 4HR and 9RBI over his last 10 games. He is batting .288 with, 11 doubles, 2 triples, 18HR, 48RBI, and a .945OPS in 60 games.
