The Week That Was at Jays From the Couch 2/12/16

DID YOU MISS SOME OF THE GREAT BLUE JAYS CONTENT AT JAYS FROM THE COUCH OVER THE LAST WEEK? WELL, HERE’S A COLLECTION OF THE HIGHLIGHTS FROM A BUSY WEEK; THE BEST IN OUR BLUE JAYS COVERAGE.

We’re getting closer and closer to Blue Jays baseball. Pitchers and catchers report in just over a week! One week! As we make our way to a new season of baseball, Jays From the Couch is keeping busy providing you with Blue Jays content. Typically, I’ve been bringing you a weekly installment of our best, but I missed a week, so now you get an extra large dose. You might have missed our Jays Nest Podcast profiling the 2016 Top Prospects, lots of great pitching analysis and much more!

podcastlogoThe Jays Nest Podcast featured a two part episode that profiled each member of our Top 15 Prospects. We talked with Doug Fox of Clutchlings and Jay Blue of BlueJaysFromAway. The in depth discussion will certainly provide you with information you can use as you begin to watch each of the prospects in 2016.

This great episode was followed up by Episode 60, where Keegan and I discuss the aftermath of the Gavin Floyd deal, the leadoff spot in the lineup, managing the Blue Jays and more!

You can subscribe to the Jays Nest Podcast on iTunes, on Stitcher (Android), or you can also get automatic updates when each episode releases with our RSS

Elsewhere at Jays From the Couch:

  • I compared Josh Donaldson to the best 3B in MLB to see just how good he has been for the Blue Jays. Sometimes, an MVP award doesn’t necessarily go to the best player at his position. But, in this case, it just might have. In the same vein, I compared Kevin Pillar to other MLB CF.
  • Ryan Mueller began a series of examinations of Blue Jays pitching. He looked at specific attributes and ranked the club’s best. For example, he listed the best “swing and miss” pitchers, who had the best change up and who was the quickest workers on staff. Each list was interesting and may surprise you.
  • In looking ahead to the 2016 season, there are some players who have a lot riding on how they perform in the early goings. Cole Nefsky wrote that Drew Hutchison could be facing a “Make or Break” kind of season. I added to that line of thinking with a look at whether Steve Delabar can get control of his slider in order to stick with the Blue Jays.
  • Wade Black provided an excellent history of each Toronto Blue Jays affiliate. At each level, he tells of the club’s history, the cities in which they play and more! There was so much to tell that he broke it up into PART 1 and PART 2.
  • Mueller brought us an interesting interview with Blue Jays 2015 draft pick, the lefty, Tyler Saucedo.
  • Making her JFtC debut, Catherine Stem tells us why she thinks Dalton Pompey is going to be the man in 2016. She tells us about the growth he’s gone through and how it has helped him moving forward.
  • Catherine also does a good job of profiling manager, John Gibbons in an attempt to explain why his position in Toronto is comfortable and we shouldn’t read too much into Eric Wedge being part of the organization.
  • We also kept up with the latest news like the signing of Gavin Floyd, David Aardsma and the 2 yr deal for Donaldson.

As the founder of Jays From the Couch, I want to take the opportunity to thank you sincerely for visiting our site. It truly is a labor of love and I appreciate your support.
