Toronto Blue Jays Minor League Recap: 15/04/16

The Toronto Blue Jays farm system went 3-1 on April 15th, 2016

 

 

Buffalo Bisons (4-5, 4th)

The Herd fell 2-1 to the Rochester Red Wings.

At the Plate

The Bisons were held to 5 hits with only one of the extra base variety. Dalton Pompey, Alexi Casilla, Jesus Montero, Matt Dominguez, and Jio Mier collecting the hits. Mier hit a double and drove in the only run for the Herd.

On the Mound

Wade LeBlanc (L, 1-1) pitched well with 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.1IP. Chad Girodo pitched 2 shut out innings with 2K’s and has yet to allow a run this year. Ben Rowen finished the game with 0.2IP and lowered his ERA to 1.93ERA.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats  (4-3, 3rd)

The Fisher Cats jumped out to an early 6 run lead after 2 innings and cruised to a 7-0 win.


At the Plate

Every NH batter collected a hit with the exception of Ian Parmley. Roemon Fields had a heck of a day with 2 hits, an extra hit and 2 stolen bases. K.C. Hobson, Wilkin Castillo, and Matt Dean each drove in 2 RBI.

 

On the Mound

John Anderson (W, 1-0) went 5.2IP with 4H, 2BB, and 5K. Brady Dragmire and Colt Hynes keep the shut out alive with 3.1IP relief innings.

Dunedin Blue Jays  (5-4, 3rd)

It took extra innings for the D-Jays to win their 5th game, 8-7.

At the Plate

The D-Jays scored a run in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, and 10th with 3 spot in the 6th. Dunedin collected 10 hits with Richard Urena, and David Harris as the only D-Jays to have a multi-hit game. Christian Lopes was the only starter no to get a hit, going 0-for-5.

In the 10th, David Harris doubled and moved to 3rd on Derrick Loveless‘ gorundball. That’s when Palm Beach’s Kyle Grana walked Christian Lopes and uncorked  a wild pitch to score Harris with Urena at the plate and to win the game.

On the Mound

Juliandry Higuera allowed 3 run (1ER) over 4 innings. Tom Robson continues to struggle in Advanced-A ball, allowing 4 runs on 2BB, and 3H over 1.2IP. Robson now owns a 21.60ERA.

Brad Allen and Matt Dermody (W, 1-0) combined to pitch 4.1IP of shut out relief for the win. Dermody allowed one hit and struck out 3 in his 2.0IP of work

Lansing Lugnuts  (4-2, 3rd)

The Lugnuts beat Bowling Green the second game of a 4-game set, 7-2.

At the Plate

Lansing scored 7 runs on 8 hits, going 3-for-17 with RISP. The game was blown open with a 4 run 3rd that saw Lane Thomas single home Connor Panas, Juan Kelly score Aaron Attaway on a fielding error, and comeback kid Jacob Anderson drive in Thomas and Atkinson with a line drive to center field.

On the Mound

Francisco Rios allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 4.2IP. Rios threw 89 pitches, 65 strikes, striking out 9 batters. Dan Lietz (W, 1-0) came on in the 5th and pitched 2.1 innings, striking 2 and allowing one hit. Colton Turner finished the game with 2 no-hit innings and has looked good early on.
