The Toronto Blue Jays Minor League system went 2 and 1 on games played on April 21st, 2016

 

 

Buffalo Bisons (7-8, 4th)

The Bisons will walk away with a series win against Scranton/WB winning 6-5 on Thursday.

At the Plate

The Bisons bats are heating up with 10 hits and 6 runs. Every starter, but number 9 hitter David Adams, collected at least one hit.

Casey Kotchman and A.J. Jimenez collected 2 hits with Jimenez delivering the big blow. A.J. hit his first home run, a two run shot in the 3rd. He followed that up with an RBI single in the 7th and a bases loaded walk in the 8th for a 4-RBI day.

On the Mound

Casey Lawrence struggled in 4.2IP. Casey allowed 5 runs on 6 hits, walking 4 and allowing a home run.

Chad Jenkins (W, 1-0) picked up his starter with 2.1 innings of shutout relief. David Aardsma and Ryan Tepera (SV, 2) chipped in with 2 more innings of of shut out relief.

Michael De La Cruz picked up two of Dunedin’s 6 hits and cashed in 2 of the D-Jays 4 runs with his first home run.

On the Mound

Kyle Westwood (L, 0-1) allowed 7 runs on 7 hits over 4.2IP. He walked 4 and struck out 3.

Jose Fernandez struck out 3 but allowed one run on 4 hits in 2.1IP, and Brad Allen allowed 2 runs in his one inning of relief.

Lansing Lugnuts  (7-5, 3rd)

Lansing picked up their 7th win to take the series opener against Lake County, 6-4.

At the Plate

The Lugnuts got on the board in the first with 2 runs, then put the game away in the 5th with 4 runs.

In all, Lansing pounded out 10 hits, worked 3 walks and struck out 7 times.

Andrew Guillotte, Ryan Hissey, and Justin Atkinson each had 2 hits. Atkinson had a good game with a double and 3 RBI, while Juan Kelly chipped in with 2 RBI of his own. Hissey also had an RBI.

On the bases, Gunnar Heidt was hitless, but walked and stole a base, his 6th of the year.

On the Mound

Angel Perdomo (W, 1-0) pitched 5 strong innings, allowing one run on one hit and striking out 9.

Starlyn Suriel allowed 3 runs on 3 runs in his 2 innings and Colton Turner converted a 2 inning save. Turner allowed one hit, walked one and struck out 3 for his 2nd save of 2016.
