Buffalo Bisons (10-12, 5th)

The Herd take game 1 from the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, 2-1.

At the Plate

Buffalo scored a run in the 6th and 9th on 7 hits, working the IronPigs pitchers for 7 walks. Pinch-hitter David Adams came through with a big hit in the top of the 9th with a 2-out double which scored Jon Berti who got the inning going with a one out double and moved to 3rd on a flyball.

Adams, Domonic Brown, Casey Kotchman, A.J. Jimenez, and Jon Berti had one hit each with Jesus Montero collecting two singles and strike out.


On the Mound

Drew Hutchison got a no-decision in this one, but pitched well enough to win. Drew lasted 6 innings, striking out 6 while allowing one run on 6 hits. Chad Jenkins picked up his 2nd win with two shut out innings in relief. Chad Girodo converted his first save of ’16, striking out one and allowing one hit on 17 pitches.

Hutch induced 7 ground balls with 2 fly ball outs and threw 60 of 96 pitches for strikes.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (7-12, 5th)

The Fisher Cats drop their 3rd in a row and 7th in the past 10 with a 1-4 loss to Binghamton Mets


At the Plate

NH continues to struggle at the plate with a 2-hit effort on Friday. Rowdy Tellez had the Fisher Cats big hit with his 3rd home run of the year, a solo shot. K.C. Hobson collected the clubs only other hit.

Roemon Fileds worked two walks, but didn’t attempt a steal either time.


On the Mound

Jason Berken dropped to 0-4 with a 5.32ERA in the loss. Jason allowed a home run, walked 3 and gave up 4 runs on 7 hits over 6 innings. Murphy Smith and Wil Browning shut out the Mets over the final 3 innings with Smith striking out 4 of the 9 batters he faced.

Dunedin Blue Jays (11-11, 3rd)

The D-Jays fall to .500 with their 4th straight loss on Friday, losing 1-7 to Daytona.


At the Plate

The Blue Jays scored one run on 5 hits, committing 2 errors (Leblebijian and Urerna).

The D-Jays only run came in the form of a solo home run off the bat of Ryan McBroom in the 8th inning. It was his 3rd of the year.

Jonathan Davis collected 2 hits, Michael Bourn and Jason Leblebijian chipped in with one hit each.


On the Mound

Tom Robson continues to slowly improve with another decent, not great, start for the D-Jays. Robson lasted 4.2IP and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits. Brad Allen allowed 3 runs on 3 walks and a hit in 2.1IP. Allen came on with two inherited runs on in the 5th, stranding both.

Chris Rowley allowed one base runner in his one inning of work.

Lansing Lugnuts (11-8, 2nd)

The Lugnuts drop game 1 to Wisconsin, 0-2, after outplaying and sweeping Beliot.


At the Plate

Lansing managed only 3 hits off Timber Rattlers pitching. Juan Kelly collected two of the three hits, with Andrew Guillotte picking up the other hit. Can’t score if you can’t hit.


On the Mound

Ryan Cook picked up his third loss, allowing 2 runs on 10 hit over 5 innings. Cook struck out 4 Rattlers and walked one. Josh DeGraaf continues to dominate with 3 strike out and no walks in two no-hit innings in relief of Cook. Dusty Isaacs allowed one hit, but no runs in his one inning of work.
