Buffalo Bisons (11-13, 5th)

The Bisons take game 1 from the Scranton/WB by a score of 5-3.


At the Plate

The Herd batters used 8 hits to score 2 runs in the 2nd and 8th with a run in the 3rd.

Jon Berti, Casey Kotchman, and David Adams each had two hits in the win, but it was Adams two doubles and A.J. Jimenez that were the big hits for Buffalo.

Jimenez and Adams drove in a pair each with Kotchman driving the Bisons other run.


On the Mound

Wade LeBlanc lasted 5.1IP, allowing 3 runs and striking out 7. Dustin Antolin continues to be a reliable reliever for Buffalo with 2.1 no-hit innings.

Pat Venditte picked up his first win with 1.1 innings of one hit relief and benefited from Buffalo scoring 2 runs in the 8th.

NH is 3-7 in their past 10 games, losing to Reading 2-3.


At the Plate

The Fisher Cats were held off the score sheet until the 8th inning, where they scored 2 runs.

Ian Parmley collected 2 hits and Dwight Smith Jr. and Christian Lopes each had one hit.

Smith Jr. hit his 3rd double in the two run 8th inning, scoring Parmley and Jorge Flores.


On the Mound

John Anderson (L, 1-3) struck out 6 but allowed 3 runs on 6 hits over 7.0IP in the loss.

Chris Smith and Colt Hynes each pitched a shut out inning in relief, with Hynes allowing a hit and 2 walks.

Dunedin Blue Jays  (11-13, 4th)

The D-Jays losing streak has reached 6 games with a 2-8 beating from Brevard County.

At the Plate

Dunedin needed 8 hits to score a run in the 5th and 7th. The Blue Jays went 1-for-16 with runner in scoring position.

Michael Bourn, Richard Urena, and Ryan McBroom each collected 2-hits, with Bourn hitting his first triple and McBroom and Urena contributing with a stolen base a piece.

Derrick Loveless and Dickie Joe Thon also chipped in with stolen bases. Loveless swiped his 5th and Thon his 4th.

Anthony Alford made his return, looking a bit rusty with a walk and the golden sombrero. Alford won’t have many more games like this.


On the Mound

Ryan Borucki was roughed up for 5 runs on 7 hits. Ryan walked 2 and didn’t register a strike out over 3.0 innings.

Chris Rowley didn’t fare better in his 2.1IP, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits.

Tim Mayza and Matt Dermody pitched the final 2.2 innings, shutting down the Manatees offense on 4 hits and no runs.

Lansing Lugnuts  (14-8, 2nd)

Lansing topped the Cedar Rapids Kernels 4-1 on Monday.

At the Plate

The Lugnuts pounded out 6 extra base hits, getting contributions from Andrew Guillotte (1-4), Lane Thomas (2-4), Juan Kelly (2-4), Gunnar Heidt (1-3) and Carl Wise (2-3). Ryan Hissey (1-3) didn’t get an extra base hit but managed to reach base twice with a single and a walk.

Carl Wise continues to swing a hot bat this week with his second 2-hit game and is riding a 4-game hit streak that’s seen his average climb from .174 to .230. Wise chipped with 2-RBI’s.

Talking about hot, Juan Kelly is on fire, hitting two doubles and has three 2-hit games in his past 4. Kelly drove in one run and scored one run.

Heidt stole his 10th base.

On the Mound

Angel Perdomo needed 82 pitches to get through 5 innings. Must have been all those strike outs, as he registered 7 K’s and 2 BB. Perdomo allowed one unearned run and hasn’t allowed an earned run in 10 innings.

Gustavo Pierre picked up his first win….ever. Pierre, a former infield prospect, allowed one hit, issued 2BB and struck out one in relief of Perdomo.

Dan Lietz and Cotlon Turner (SV, 5) combined with Pierre in shutting out the Kernals for the final 4 innings, with Turner going 2.0 innings, striking out 4 and walking 2.
