Blue Jays Minor League Recap: 09/05/16

Buffalo Bisons (14-17)

Buffalo shut out the Durham Bulls, 3-0.


At the Plate

The Herd scored 2 runs in the 1st and one in the 9th.

Jesus Montero cashed in 2 runs out of the 4th spot and Junior Lake was the other Bison to collect an RBI with a 2-out single.

Matt Dominguez, and Domonic Brown joined Montero in registering a multi-hit game with a pair of hits each.


On the Mound

Arnold Leon picked up his first win, throwing five 1-hit innings. Leon struck out 7 and walked 1.

Chris Leroux pitched three 1-hit innings in relief and David Aardsma converted his 4th save with a perfect 9th inning.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats  (12-17)

The Fisher Cats scored two in the 1st and the pitching made it stand for a 2-1 win over Portland Sea Dogs.


At the Plate

Dwight Smith Jr. and Matt Dean drove in a run each, with Smith Jr. being the only NH batter to register 2-hits. Jon Berti and Ian Parmley got the Fisher Cats other hits in this pitchers dual.


On the Mound

Luis Santos allowed one run over 7 innings. Santos struck out 6 and allowed 4 hits and 2 walks, improving his record to a perfect 3-0 with a 3.82ERA.

John Stilson and Wil Browning each pitched an inning with Browning converting his 4th save.

Dunedin Blue Jays  (14-16)

The D-Jays take game one, 6-2, from Clearwater, as Dunedin opens a 4-game home/home series.


At the Plate

Dunedin used 12 hits to score 6 runs, getting multi-hit games from Richard Urena (2-4), Jason Leblebijian (2-4), D.J. Davis (2-4), Dickie Joe Thon (2-3) and Mike Reeves (3-4).

Reeves and Ryan McBroom deliveries 2-RBI each, with McBroom hitting 4th home run. Urena hit a solo shot in the 1st to get the D-Jays rolling, his 3rd.

D.J. Davis has good game connecting on a double and triple, but struck out twice.


On the Mound

Starter Justin Shafer allowed one run on 4 walks, despite no-hitting the Threshers over 4 innings.

Carlos Ramirez struck out 2 over 2.1 for his 2nd win.

Tim Mayza struck out 3 and Jose Fernandez walked 2 and allowed an unearned run to cross in the final 2 frames.

Lansing Lugnuts  (16-12)

The Lugnuts were the lone affiliate to loss on Monday, falling 2-7 to the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

At the Plate

The Lugnuts were held to 2 runs on just 5 hits.

Lansing scored both their runs in the 3rd inning, thanks to two solo jacks off the bats of Andrew Guillotte (2) and Ryan Hissey (1). Hissey also hit a single, to be the only Lugnut with 2-hits. Carl Wise and Josh Almonte collected the other hits for Lansing.


On the Mound

Sean Reid-Foley needed 70 pitches, 31 strikes, to retire 9 batters. SRF walked 4 and struck out 4, while shutting out the Hot Rods over 3 innings.

Conor Fisk struggled in his 3 innings, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) and Gustavo Pierre allowed one run over 2 innings.
