Buffalo Bisons (15-17, 5th)

The Bisons climb out the basement of the North IL division with a 2-1 win over the Bulls.

The Herd have rattled off 4 wins in a row.

At the Plate

Dalton Pompey hit a leadoff home run, his first and A.J. Jimenez singled home Junior Lake in the 9th to take the lead.

Casey Kotchman and Jimenez each collected 2 hits.

 

On the Mound

Starter Drew Hutchison pitched well enough to win, going 6 innings and allowing one run in the first. Drew walked 2 and struck out 6 while finishing with a 9-2 GO-AO ratio.

Pat Venditte (W, 2-0) pitched 2 shutout innings and Dustin Antolin picked up his 2nd save.

 

Player of Interest/Top Prospects

New Hampshire Fisher Cats  (13-17, 5th)

The Fisher Cats have taken the first two from Portland, with a resounding 8-1 win. They’ve won 4-of-5.

 

At the Plate

NH scored 8 runs on 13 hits and were helped out by the Sea Dogs with 5 errors.

Roemon Fields picked up his second 4-hit game in the past 4 games and is hitting .308 in his past 10 games. Fields also showed off his speed, swiping his 11th base.

Rowdy Tellez came into the game with .143BA and .108 over his past 10, but collected 3 hits, including his 4th home run. Tellez also chipped in with a double and 2-RBI.

Matt Dean contributed 2-RBI, while Jon Berti, Ian Parmley, and Dwight Smith Jr. also drove in a run each.

Jon Berti went 1-for-3 with 2 walks a stolen base out of the 2-hole.

 

On the Mound

Jeremy Gabryszwski picked up his first win, well deserved if you ask me. Jeremy struck out 5 over 6 innings, while allowing just the one run. Gabby threw 60 of his 92 pitches for strikes and finished with a 7-2 GO-AO ratio.

Jason Berken picked up his first save with 3 shutout innings in relief.

Dunedin Blue Jays  (14-17, 4th)

The Threshers needed extra innings to dispatch the D-Jays 3-4 in 13.

 

At the Plate

Jason Leblebijian hit his 3rd home run, a solo shot in the 7th and scored two of the D-Jays 3-runs.

D.J. Davis and L.B. Dantzler chipped in with an RBI each, while Davis impressed with 2 walks.

Anthony Alford stole his 2nd base of the year, but struck out 3 times in 7 at-bats.

 

On the Mound

Conner Greene struggled with the strike zone, walking 6 batters and threw 52 of his 96 pitches for strikes. He allowed one run on 6 hits over 5.2 innings. Greene finished the game with 3 strike outs and 6-2 GO-AO.

Alonzo Gonzalez, Matt Dermody, Chris Rowley, Tim Mayza, and Colton Turner combined to throw 6 innings, with Mayza allowing the tying run to cross in the bottom of the 9th.

Mayza was charged with the blown save, but it Chris Rowley and a Leblebijian errors that did the damage.

Dickie Joe Thon come on to finish the game, not fairing to well. Thon allowed a run on 3 hits, only getting one out…the final one.

Lansing Lugnuts  (16-13, 5th)

The Lugnuts drop their 3rd in a row with a 3-4 extra inning loss.

 

At the Plate

Lansing scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning. Andrew Guillotte cashed in 2 two out runs and Jacob Anderson chipped in with a RBI in the loss.

Carl Wise was the only starter not to collect a hit, but did manage to work a walk and score a run.

Josh Almonte was the only Lugnut to register a 2-hit game.

 

On the Mound

Ryan Cook allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings.

Dusty Isaacs streaks his scoreless innings streak to 15 with 2.2IP for his first hold of the year.

After a strong start to the year, Josh DeGraaf is scuffling a bit of late with his second blown save and loss over his past 3 outings. Josh allowed the tying run to cross in the 9th and the winning run to cross in the 11th.
