Blue Jays Minor League Recap: 15/05/16

The Toronto Blue Jays Minor League system went 2-2 on games played on May 15th, 2016. Join us in recapping the wins and losses.



Because I’m was a lazy piece of sh*t last night and didn’t get to the recap, I’ve included yesterday’s scored.


Buffalo Bisons (17-20, 6th)

Buffalo dropped the rubber match, 1-2, losing the series 2 games to 3 to Norfolk.


At the Plate

The Herd scored one run on 7 hits.

Junior Lake was the only Bison with 2 hits and just so happened to be the only Bison with a hit that mattered. Lake hit his 3rd home run, the only HR hit in the organization on Sunday, and hit a double to boot.

A.J. Jimenez also hit a double, while Darrell Ceciliani, Domonic Brown, Jesus Montero, and Matt Dominguez each hit singles.


On the Mound

Starter Drew Hutchison picked up his second loss with two unearned run in the 2nd. Hutch struck out 8 and walked one with 5 hits over 6 innings.

Recently demoted, not given a real good chance to prove himself, Ryan Tepera struck out 3 in 2 innings of relief.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats  (18-17, 4th)

The Fisher Cats are on quit the roll, winning their 7th in a row, 4-2 over Hartford. With sweep of yesterdays doubleheader and Sunday’s win, the Fisher Cats sweep the 1st place Yard Goats


At the Plate

NH scored a run in the 5th and 9th with 2 in the 6th on 7 hits.

Wilkin Castillo and Ian Pamley each had two hits, while Roemon Fields, Dwight Smith Jr., and Christian Lopes chipped in with one hit a piece.

Fields drove in 2-RBI(4), while Lopes and Parmley contributed with one RBI each. Parmley also stole his 7th and 8th bases of the year.


On the Mound

Jeremy Gabryszwski (2-1, 3.11) picked up the win pitching 6 inning, 4 hits and 2 runs. Gabby struck out 6 and walked one.

Daniel Schlereth, Jason Berken, and Chris Smith combined to shutout the Yard Goats over the final 3 innings.

Dunedin Blue Jays  (15-22, 4th)

Dunedin lost their 6th game in their past 7 with a 4-5 defeat to Brevard County. The D-Jays dropped 3-of-4 to the Manatees.


At the Plate

The Blue Jays scored 3 in the 4th and one in the 9th but fell short.

Devon Travis collected a hit and an RBI.

L.B. Dantzler picked up 2 hits, while Emilio Guerrero chipped in with a double and 2-RBI(9).

Jonathan Davis stole his 11th base.


On the Mound

Starter Conner Greene allowed 2 runs over 5.2IP. Greene gave up 4 hits and issued 2 walks while striking out just 2 Manatees and left with the lead.

Alonzo Gonzalez has been one of the D-Jays most reliable pitchers but not on this day. Alonzo allowed 3 run, 2 unearned, on 4 hits over 1.1IP. Gonzalez was credited with a blown save and the loss.

Colton Turner continues to looked in 2016 with 2 no-hit innings of relief.

Lansing Lugnuts  (18-16, 4th)

With Sunday’s 7-6 win over South Bend the Lunguts earned a 2 game split, staying two games over .500.


At the Plate

The Lugnuts jumped out in front with 3 in the 1st and one in the 2nd, but needed 2 more in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game up at 6’s.

It took a Justin Atkinson single to left field, scoring Lane Thomas, to take the lead and win the game.

Every Lansing batter registered at least one hit with the exception of JC Cardenas. Cardenas has struggled recently and should turn it around soon.

Juan Kelly, Max Pentecost, Lane Thomas, and Josh Almonte each collected 2 hits.

Kelly, Pentecost, Thomas, Almonte, Atkinson, and Cardenas each collected RBI’s in the win.

Almonte and Guillotte also chipped in with their 4th and 8th stolen bases.


On the Mound

Ryan Cook continues his struggles with 6 runs over 4.1 innings. Cook struck out 5 but also walked 5, needing 92 pitches to get throw 4.1IP.

Dan Lietz picked up his 2nd win with 2.2IP of one hit while walking 2 in 2.2IP of relief.

Josh DeGraaf earned his 2nd save with 2 innings of shut out relief. This is good for DeGraaf after a couple rough outings last week.
