The Toronto Blue Jays season has ended and Jays From the Couch thanks its readers for a successful inaugural season for the site

On January 1, 2016, Jays From the Couch launched into the fray that is Toronto Blue Jays coverage. As Founder of JFtC, I started this project with a twinkle in my eye and a dream in my heart. It has been a widely successful first season for us and for that, I want to thank you.

Jays From the Couch was supposed to be a place for fans of Canada’s team to #ComeTogether and read, converse and enjoy our team. In the over 10 months that we’ve been live, it has turned into more than that for me. This journey has been filled with a lot of personal investment and commitment and it has paid off in spades over our first season.

Our humble January beginnings was a leap of faith. I know that there are many different places you can turn to for coverage of your favorite team. I knew that when I wrote for one of them- Jays Journal. I knew that the market was thick. I knew that JFtC would be competing with many intelligent, passionate sources for Blue Jays coverage. After all, your time is valuable. How much more could you possibly read?

As it turns out, it is a lot. The Blue Jays’ fansbase has welcomed JFtC with open arms and we’ve seen huge growth in just our first season. Through Twitter (@JaysFromCouch) or Facebook, or even Instagram, we’ve connected with so many knowledgeable and passionate fans and readers. The interaction and conversations have been just awesome. We don’t always think alike, but the cool thing is that we are able to facilitate great discussion.

And, that is what the goal has always been- to create a place that is like sitting on your couch, beverage in hand, shooting the breeze with friends. Through the JFtC growth, we’ve made some great friends along the way and had some great discussions, many of which appeared on our Jays Nest Podcast, (on iTunes & Google Play) which has also seen tremendous growth…we’re talking thousands of listeners every week! Thank you!

All of the love and support from our readership has been so positive, it would be hard to imagine that it can be topped. But, that is our goal. We will continue to bring you quality Blue Jays coverage while continuing our commitment to providing a place where said coverage is the focus; not ads or click bait.

So, we’ll follow the team closely over the winter (wonder if there’s anything of interest…) and continue to discuss, debate and analyze the Toronto Blue Jays. Whether it is an unhealthy obsession with Devon Travis, or an equally passionate frustration over Kevin Pillar’s patience at the plate, Jays From the Couch will be there. Our team of writers are intelligent, rational and fun and are dedicated to building off the success of 2016. If you’re interested in joining our team, you can apply anytime.

From all of us, thank you so much for an amazing first season. Here’s to many more!
