Happy New Year!

Exactly one year ago, we launched Jays From the Couch to add our voice to the coverage of the Toronto Blue Jays. Here we are one year later, having established our site among the various other entities out there. It has been a year of tremendous growth for JFtC and we want to say thank you to everyone for making it what it is today.

At the end of the Blue Jays 2016 season, I wrote a similar “Thank you” message to show our appreciation for the support during our first full season as a Blue Jays’ site. At the time, our in-season coverage featured recaps, previews and a boat load of analysis and opinion pieces. We entered our first full offseason with a foundation of faithful readers to build on.

And, that foundation allowed us to cover Canada’s team as they proceeded to do their regular offseason thing. For us, it was a period that saw our tremendous following grow even more. We set a record for views in a single month in November and in December, as well. I can’t express what it means to have hundreds of thousands of readers visit the Couch like that. Hundreds of thousands of readers have trusted Jays From the Couch to provide the content they look for. That means a lot. Thank you.

As I have said before: “I know that there are many different places you can turn to for coverage of your favorite team. I knew that when I wrote for one of them- Jays Journal. I knew that the market was thick. I knew that JFtC would be competing with many intelligent, passionate sources for Blue Jays coverage.”

But, the Blue Jays fan base made room for us and welcomed JFtC with open arms and we’ve seen huge growth in just our first year. Through Twitter (@JaysFromCouch) or Facebook, or even Instagram, we’ve connected with so many knowledgeable and passionate fans and readers. The interaction and conversations have been just awesome. We don’t always think alike, but the cool thing is that we are able to facilitate great discussion.

And, that is what the goal has always been- to create a place that is like sitting on your couch, beverage in hand, shooting the breeze with friends. Through the JFtC growth, we’ve made some great friends along the way and had some great discussions, many of which appeared on our Jays Nest Podcast, (on iTunes & Google Play) which has also seen tremendous growth…we’re talking thousands of listeners every week! Thank you!

On a personal note, I want to show my appreciation and admiration for the staff here at Jays From the Couch. This is a group of dedicated people who have joined me in the vision I had for this site. They have worked very hard to expand our presence. They do so giving their time and efforts freely. The writers at JFtC are a solid bunch of fans who have been an unbelievable support system for me. Please, join me in taking the time to acknowledge them.

If you’re interested in joining our team, you can apply anytime.
