Nate Pearson struck out 7 in a ND with the Herd, Joey Murray allowed for runs in a NH loss, Allgeyer continues to put an ugly July in the rearview mirror with another solid August start, Troy Watson chucked 5 plus scoreless inning for the Lugnuts. Sunday, August 25th POD goes to the Santiago Espinal

 

After getting off to a slow start (0-for-15) with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, the 24-yr-old has his batting average up to .284. On Sunday, Espinal had his best game with the Herd, hitting his first AAA HR and collecting 6 total bases.

 

Playing 2nd base and batting 6th, Espinal swatted his 1st Triple-A home run leading off the 2nd inning to tie the game at 2-2. He singled in the 4th inning but Nash Knight grounded into a double play to end the frame.

 

Espinal singled and stole his 1st AAA base in the 9th inning but was left stranded. In the 11th inning, Santiago advanced the runners with a sac bunt. Two batters later Roemon Fields singled in the winning run.

 

Santiago Espinal is batting .378 with 6 multi-hit games, 4 runs scored, a HR, 5RBI, 2BB, 10K, and a SB in his last 10 games. In 20 Triple-A games, Espinal is batting .284 with 5 runs scored, 4 doubles, 8RBI, 4/16 BB/K, and a .699OPS.

 

The Kevin Smith and Griffin Conine Show

 

Kevin Smith played 2B and batted clean up for the Fisher Cats. Smith went 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts dropping his batting average down to .211. Overall, Smith has 48 runs scored, 21 doubles, 2 triples, 19HR, and a .681OPS.

 

Griffin Conine played RF and batted clean up for the Lugnuts. Conine went 0-for-2 with a walk extending his on-base streak to 7-games. Overall, Conine is batting .277 with 50 runs scored, 15 doubles, 2 triples, 20HR, 56RBI, and .920OPS.
