The system went 3 and 1.

Buffalo- A strong start from Nick Allgeyer, combined with four innings of 1 hit relief allowed Buffalo to pick up their 4th win. Despite being held to just 5 hits that included a double and a home run, a Josh Palacios single in the 8th pushed Buffalo ahead, 2-1.

New Hampshire- A 4-run 7th  was enough for the victory as NH improved to 2-1. Rafael Lantigua, Spencer Horwitz, and Philip Clarke each had multi-hit games while Hayden Jeuger and Paxton Schultz shut out the Sea Dogs over 7 innings, holding Portland to 2 hits, a walk, and 12K.

Vancouver- Spokane, and Vancouver traded 3-run innings in the 1st and 3rd. The C’s scored a run in the 5th to take the lead and padded the lead with a 3-run in the 7th thanks to a Trevor Schweke solo HR and a Hugo Cardona 2-run triple. Spokane tied the game up at 7-7 but in the top of the 8th, Davis Schneider hit a line drive over the LF fence for a solo HR, 8-7.

Dunedin- Both teams collected 9 hits but the Marauders went 5-for-11 while the D-Jays went 2-for-12. After being held hitless over the first four innings, Bradenton blew the doors off Dunedin with 5 runs in the 5th and 4 runs in both the 8th and 9th.

Player Spotlight

Today we turn our attention to Garrett Spain.

The 21-yr-old outfielder played RF and CF for the C’s, batting 9th. In 2021, the 15th rounder split his time between Dunedin and the FCL batting .333 and .169 with just a double he hit while with the FCL.

In his first game as a member of the Vancouver Canadians, Spain went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Spain doubled in his first at-bat, the 3rd inning, pushing Schwecke to 3rd. Schwecke and Spain scored a throwing error by the catcher, 2-3. His 2nd at-bat came in the 5th inning, a solo home run, 4-3. In the 7th inning, following a Schwecke solo HR, Spain doubled and scored on Cardona’s two-out triple, 6-4.

PS. I will be away next week on a well-deserved vacation, so no recaps. maybe some recaps if my wife is right about the internet.
