April 13th Blue Jays Minor League Recap: Palmegiani hits 2nd HR for Dunedin

Buffalo- Rained Out.

 

New Hampshire- The Fisher Cats scored a run in the 1st inning but were down 7-1 after 4 innings. They made a game of it with two runs in each of the 8th and 9th innings but couldn’t close the gap. New Hampshire hammered out 13 hits, going 3-for-16 with runners in scoring position, and committed 3 errors.

 

Vancouver- The C’s pitchers held the Dust Devils off the board, limiting them to one hit in the game. At the plate Trevor Schwecke singled home Addison Barger with the game’s first run in the 2nd inning. Zach Britton brought Schwecke and Garrett Spain home with a single to LF in the 5th to extend the C’s lead.

 

Dunedin- The D-Jays jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the 1st and a run in the 2nd. The Tarpons responded with a pair of 2-run innings in the 2nd and 3rd as the bullpens engaged in a pitching duel the rest of the way.

Player Spotlight

 

Today we turn our attention to Damiano Palmegiani of the Dunedin Blue Jays.

 

The native of Caracas Venezuela is a product of Baseball Canada. The Blue Jays used two draft picks to net the young man. First drafting him in the 35th round of the 2018 draft. They got their man in the 14th round of the 2021 draft and signed him for $157K. The native of Surrey, BC DH’d and batted 3rd for Dunedin on Wednesday.

 

In his first at-bat, Damiano jumped on the first pitch for his 2nd home run, cashing in Estiven Machado who doubled ahead of him. Palmegiani struck out in the 2nd, reached on an error in the 4th, and singled in the 7th.

 

In 18 at-bats, the 22-yr-old 2nd/3rd/OF is batting .278 with 2HR, 5RBI, and a 1.103OPS.
